Default Southampton (a rant)

First of all I am no Bon Jovi fan boy. But I have seen them before and watched/listened to quite a few bootlegs etc. I wouldn't pay that much for a ticket to go and see a band I didn't know quite a bit about...

I paid for a Gold Circle ticket...but how friggin big was the gold circle? I woudl estimate almost half the standing pitch. I know there are no hard and fast rules as to how big the GC should be but IMO it should be a lot smaller than it was today - especially if you are paying 50% extra for the privellige. We all know how corporate BJ are but this is taking the piss.

Talking of money - the setlist - the length of the show for that much money in unforgivable. End of, I don't care how you want to justify it (I imagine no one got into the show for less than £50)

The show itself got off on a slow start (for me anyway, given how many gigs I have been to but for many it might have been great). It started getting good with IN THESE ARMS but then got boring with Captain Crash (seriously with such a huge catalogue (full of some excellent songs) why are they singing songs like this?) - personally I was hoping for a few more hard hitters. I felt they did a few decent songs and followed up with long boring drawn out ones (Sleep When I'm Dead and Any Other Day).

Anyway I thought they were pretty average and sandwiched between two Springsteen shows this one will be quickly forgotten which is a shame as I was hoping for great thigns from one of the worlds best live acts but going by this they are not putting on the best shows they could IMO. I had inklings of seeing them in twickenham but this experience has knocked that on the head, and I will be annoyed if they do a longer setlist!

Oh well, spose we got ALWAYS which I wanted quite badly (but no These Days)

The funny and sad thing is we have a local music venue which hosts a Bo nJovi tribute band (won't name them) but they are so good that the first tiem I saw them they were so much like BJ, did all the best songs that their show was much more enjoyable than tonights (though that was in a small venue so the music was way more intense)

yes the GC is huge and there's no way you can be at the front because of the FC,people who are first timers and think they will be up front are being misled and can end up on the halfway line for their 75 quid plus fees.I thought this show would not be a classic as Jon only pulls out the stops for the biggies.Bristol and Coventry will no doubt be the same.

That isnt technically true. I am not a member of the FC, and went to my first concert on the Have a Nice day tour and was 2nd row in front of Richie. I'd queued up since 10am on the day though. If you turn up late on and expect to be right near the front just cos you have GC tickets then that obviously isnt going to happen. The GC's are big I admit so the only way to make sure you get a good view is to be prepared to queue up, which in my opinion is part of the whole experience.

Role on Coventrty and Twickenham !!!

Not true, I got there at 11 (although had to wait till box office opened at 12) and I was about five people back from the front. Pretty gold to me

There was just one pit. And Id say it was 85/90% full

Last nights show was great. At the risk of being slagged off by all and sundry, I'd say it was a better show than Punchestown on Saturday - I certainly enjoyed it more. And as for Jon not putting effort into anything other than the big shows obviously wasn't at Coventry on the last tour....that was possibly one of the best (and I've seen a fair few) Jovi show I've seen. If nothing else, Jon knows which way his bread is buttered and if he started to do a lot of weaker shows it would affect his bottom line and I am sure he aint having that!

I thought the show was electric.

Highlight was hearing Blaze, Always & Any Other Day. Those songs are not played all the time so nice to see them pop up.

It was a shorter set than I would have hoped for but sticking in songs like Complicated, Story Of My Life etc would not have made it better.

I would love to have had Bed Of Roses & Hey God too but from experience you rarely get everything you want at a show spanning a bands 25 year music career.

Jon's voice is on top form right now and the whole band seem lifted by this. If you are reading this and have not yet brought tickets to a show this tour then please do so as you will not regret it.
