I went last night to the show and thought i would add my 2cents worth.
In short, I thought it was good, The band seemed to enjoy themselves they gave it there all, but at 2145 when they started to play Livin (knowing the encore would be next) i wondered where the evening was going. Wondered if we would get a 45min encore/ 2 encores or would the show end early. It was a really good Main set, I would have liked to have Captain Crash and Whole lot of Leaving changed to something better, I know its a lost highway tour and that they have to play some of the songs but it just seemed to kill the atmosphere a bit.
They came back and played Always which was great and then Any other day (was good but was expecting a O2 style solo from Richie at the end but was shortened..booo) and then Wanted and that was it! I thought as they had a curfew of 2230 they would have played until then but that was it. I waited after Wanted hoping we would have got These Days like Dublin but the house lights came up and everybody left.
All in all was a good atmosphere a little short, did feel short changed with the length of the show, But Blaze and Always were my highlights. and the people who came with me really enjoyed themselves, its just that after keeping up with the previous set lists i was hoping for Hey God or Wild is the Wind or real rarities and was hoping we may have got a 5 song encore and not 3.
Each show should be around 25 songs and would be nice to get 5-6 different songs each night. This is almost what its like each show but was annoyed they left the stage 20mins early. I too thought it was due to Lorraine Kelly TV show but it turned out after setting my Sky+ this was just a repeat of the performance they did of Lost Highway when Richie was in Rehab which i think they recorded before the o2 show last year. So this cannot be blamed.
Somebody mentioned the police may have asked them to close early wonder if this is correct?
Anyway as mentioned every show should be around 25 songs and im sure Twickers will be brilliant/special just not sure why they could do the full show for Southampton after all it costs the same.
Also thought it was bad that there was no support act.
Im all up for the competion bands to play for 15-20mins but they should then have a signed band on after then Bon Jovi.
Thats it.
