I have to disagree - if you have seated tickets and ALMOST EVERYONE around is sat down then you also sit - you have no right to block their view.

I found with BJ people were getting up in massive groups for certain songs so you just go with the flow. If everyone else wants to sit then let them.

My show at Southampton was enarly ruined by one girls standing up for every single song (and waving her arms infront of my view) when for the majority of songs peopel were probably sat down)

At other concerts 1 or 2 people do get up when its a quiet song and no one else wants to - so they either stand there looking a fool or get told to sit down.

Often they will say Health and Safety means you have to stay sat down anyway.

I just have a hard time envisioning people sitting at a BJ show. Perhaps The Eagles or Paul McCartney, but a former 80's hair band rock n roll show?? That is just weird to me.

If they are seated tickets I really think you should stay sat down. An unwritten rule is that when it comes to the last 3 songs or so of the set (the encores) you stand up and that's instigated by the initial applause.

Bruce is like that, he tells people to get on his feet but he also tells them to sit down and listen. For me I don't see the point of standing up in a seated area (where it is tiered and you have a great view anyway) for a TLFR version of bed of roses or for Springsteen's The River, Empty Sky etc... I remember at Royal Albert Hall in 2005 he told people off for standing and making noise and asked people to sit down and listen.

Many people buy seated tickets because they are too small to get a proper view of the stage in a general admission section. Some people have bad legs/joints and are seated for medical reasons without being classed as disabled.

For other people the music they are there to see and hear live is with a passion on a different level to your casual fan. How many Bon Jovi fans talk to each other and laugh and joke and sing at the tops of their voices not really hearing or appreciating the moment if a song like Dry County is played. For some others that's so special that you should shut up, stand still, and gaze mesmorised at the stage giving the band your full attention, being completely captivated.

For me that is the same for seated. How does it make it any more enjoyable to be stood up. I've seen Scorpions, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Steve Vai, Satriani, Page & Plant in the front row stood up, and in the back sat down and it's always as enjoyable, because I listen to the music, I watch the movements on stage, take in the light show, the audience reaction, perhaps focus on things I wouldn't do whilst standing; drum fills, keyboard work, base patterns, stage production.

I just don't see why so many people can stand up so rudely and expect people who disagree with them to go to hell. It's fine to stand up for certain songs, but balance it by sitting down when it's not a special song to you or it's not an up-beat one.

If you're passionate about your music there are different things you want to get out of a live performance and for me it's not to emulate listening to a greatest hits cd at full volume, dancing around in a bar.

BTW, not being personal sorry Kathleen... just joining the debate!

I didn't realise people sat down at BJ concerts! I have been to six, always with a seated ticket, but the moment the boys walk onto the stage, everyone gets up and stays standing till the end of the show. I've never heard anyone complain.

If it would be possible in the front row I'd sit down for 80% of Bon Jovi's setlist nowadays. For some songs I'd stand up for the verses and sit down for the choruses.

I find there's nothing fist-pumpingly good about the tracks that I need to feel like I have an orgasm running through my body in a huge musical explosion! That happens with maybe 1 song per tour nowadays that they do.

So long as my sound and view of the show would be good I could easily sit down.

let it rock - sums it up perfecty - dont forget people paid for the luxury of seating and wil lwant to use it - why not just pay to stand is standing is available?

I agree, I liek to chill out and listen to the music (even if i am standing) - i never go crazy and dance or anything so peopel should not expect others to do what they do.

You will need to exclude Germany from the rest of Europe. I have seen a large number of bands in arenas, but i havent seen any concert where people in the seated sections were constantly sitting down. Its a bit of a different issue with stadium shows. Or maybe its just the music i am into...
Still, its rock'n'roll and for ****s sake and those who prefer to sit down during a rock'n'roll show better not ask me to sit down.

I have to agree with this. I've seen Bon Jovi five times in Germany and everytime it looks like the seated people are standing almost all the time.
