I spose the obvious answer is that i didnt wanna block the view of people behind me...

I'd rather chill out and take in the songs - I also paid for a seating ticket and wanted to chill out that day - not jump around and stuff - that lady was obviously more suited to standing on the pitch.

I think it depends on the vibe. For exampel I saw The Eagles at Wembley and it was al lseated and a few women (why is it always women? ) got up and started dancing but no one else did so they soon got the message

On the other hand I went tosee Deep Purple/Steve Vai and at both of those shows it was all seated but everyone got up and basically mad eit a mostly standing ticket by abandoning their seats.

I'd love to seat and even have some sleeping time during some LH/TLFR songs...

i would stand.
every ticket i have got that was seating was only because standing wasn't available at all/sold out. i prefer to stand. the ticket usually says 'people around you may stand' i take that as an 'it's ok to stand'
but then no one has told me to sit before, so i'm not sure how i would react to that situation.

How can anybody sit down at a bon jovi concert?
The band feeds off the energy of the audience. If the audience is sitting down, what makes anybody think that the band will give its all while these lazy asses are sitting down.
As soon as everybody is up,you can tell that the band are ready to go.
In Sydney we have all these too cool for school people who would rather sit at a rock show.
Go and watch Liza Minelli or Celine Dion. You can sit there for 2 hrs sipping your cocktails.
This is Bon Jovi. Not everybody can afford floor tickets to stand.
I say get up off your butt and show the band some respect.
Ill definitely be standing in Sydney,if anybody is sitting down that'll be embarrassing, the band havent toured here for 12years,it'll be a disgrace.
Please get up off yur butt in Sydney.

Some Celine Dion songs have more energy than the TLFR version of Bed Of Roses, or Seat Next To You.

If it would be possible in the front row I'd sit down for 80% of Bon Jovi's setlist nowadays. For some songs I'd stand up for the verses and sit down for the choruses.

I find there's nothing fist-pumpingly good about the tracks that I need to feel like I have an orgasm running through my body in a huge musical explosion! That happens with maybe 1 song per tour nowadays that they do.

So long as my sound and view of the show would be good I could easily sit down.
I don't disagree that the setlists are nothing to jump around about these days, but I still like to sing and dance to the songs. Hell, by now I probably know the words better than Jon having seen the same damn songs so often!!

BTW, you PM'ed me and I suck. I totally never got back to you. Life got hectic and I just remembered now that you wrote me. I will be sure to write back in the next few days. Give my best to Laura too.

i cant even finish reading all the posts before posting myself. lol.. never... EVER have i sat down at a concert. there are seats, sure. but if you go to a show...especially a rock concert... expect to stand. if you are one of those people who like to sit, then sit in the higher sections, the steeper ones! leave the lower levels and closer seating for the die hard fans. the nerve that those people even asked you to sit! thats rude...especially if EVERYONE around you is not. i can understand if you were the only one standing. then maybe sit, because you would be the one being rude. the closest ive come to sitting is on the seat while its up... just to lean for a slow song and take it all in. and for the record... i seem to always have the two tall 7 foot men in front of me at shows. im not short...but im not tall. even in the upper sections, two to three rows down i couldnt see well even with standing. when you go to a concert... you have to expect these things. i have learned to live with it...and so do they!

one last thing... i just had to mention about this post... the band def feeds off the crowd. especially the front rows, because they can see these people. this brings me back to truth or dare, where Madonna was talking about the "suits" sitting in the front. like where on earth did they come from and if they are going to sit with those faces... why are they here? her shows rock too... (very different than a jovi show! its like comparing apples and oranges... the only similarity is they are fruit) anyhow... i agree with the above!

being ever the diplomat me and my good brother pissed off many a person when we saw the police at twickenham in september because we wouldnt' A. sit down and B. refrain from going to the bar every 15-20 minutes.

if i've spent a fortune for gig tickets i;m going to act in any way i want and hell mend anyone who tries to stop me.

the only time i think ive really been out of order at a gig was when i went to see robbie williams and kept spilling beer on the girls i'd latched on to but they thought i was cute / funny / pathetic and needing of help *delete as appropraite*

I would not be happy about it--at all, but I would probably give in and sit down rather than cause trouble. I've been to some shows where the audience *did* sit (some of the more old school country stuff) and I don't find sitting at a show to be all that bad. But, there's quite a difference in listening to Merle Haggard or Little Big Town while seated and listening to Bon Jovi while seated. Bon Jovi shows are more energetic, fist-pumping experiences. Bon Jovi makes me want to get up and sing along. I actually quite enjoyed the first Borgata show when were all told to sit down for filming. I thought that kind of performance really lent itself to sitting. I think if you're going to wind up sitting, try to look on the bright side and see it as a chance to really take in the quality of the music without distracting yourself with your own singing and dancing. Even when I am "singing" along, I usually only mouth the lyrics because I'm not there to hear myself sing. I'm there to hear Jon sing and I don't want to lose that experience.

He's such a different kind of performer, that Merle Haggard actually seemed offended when people tried to stand up for his biggest hits. He would stop playing until people sat again.
