The words "cheap", "hotel" and "London" do not mix. There are no cheap hotels in London. But you might want to try the Finnish Sailors Church. ("Merimieskirkko").

To which airport does Ryan Air fly to? Heathrow? How long a trip is it from the airport to Hyde Park?
Stansted. And no matter which airport you go to you can always get to London.

Could one use Visa Electron in London? Or should I change to pounds?
Most places accept it and you can withdraw money with it, so no need to exchange.

Ice, where exactly is(if it is anymore) that place in Helsinki where one could buy travellers card? How much is it? What does it mean exactly? Can you use any public transportations in London for free when you buy that?
It was in Mikonkatu, Helsinki.

Copied from www.ticket-on-line.com
* Unlimited travel on tube and bus - the more you travel the more you save!
* No need to worry which ticket to buy
* No need to have the correct money or hunt for change
* Save up to £25 off top London attractions and restaurants with our free discount booklet

You might want to buy one for Central London and Zone 1, depending on where you're going to stay. For trips to airport pay separately.

It's not free, but it's cheap. The last time I spent a few nites there it was £15 per person per night in a mixed-sex dormitory room (they only got one, I think it's got six beds). And they speak Finnish cause they got Finnish ppl working there. The only negative point about the Merimieskirkko is that it's quite far away from Central London -- as far as I can remember, the Jubilee Line / East London Line change it's just one tube stop away from Zone 2. So it takes some 10-20 mins in the tube depending on the tube trains to get to West End / Piccadilly / Hyde Park areas from there.

And about what Ice said about hotels in London, it's definitely true -- the words cheap, hotel and London DON'T go together at all. London is probably among the top 5 or top 10 most expensive cities in the world... Laura, Taija and me managed to score quite a reasonable rate, I think it was around £75 per room per nite somewhere very close to Hyde Park -- and I'm scared sh*tless cause I have first-hand experience of the kind of dumps they have in London with rates like that... I think I'm gonna bring a couple of bottles of Raid with me, cause that place is prolly swarming with roaches, lice and all sorts of other yucky bugs.

You can find reasonable prices for hotels even in central London, if you look hard enough. Seaman's mission (merimieskirkko) is the cheapest, but it's not very close. You can find rooms from let's say 40-60 euros very close to Hyde Park, if they still have rooms left.

As Ice said, from Stockholm they fly to Stansted. But there are buses from Stansted to central London every 15 mins or so. From what I remember it takes 1-2 hours by bus. You can't get lost really. And flying is one of the safest and easiest ways to travel alone - you can't get lost! There's always someone to ask.

You can draw money with it, but it's a bit expensive. You should maybe exchange some pounds, too. But with Forex it's good because they don't charge anything extra.

You can also buy that card from any underground station in London, at least that was the case a few years ago.

How much are the tickets to the gig? Where can I get tix? I know I can´t get to the front row with you guys but what about the "second pit"? Does it require FC membership card?
For London - expensive. Be prepared to pay more than 500 marks (50 pounds) for the tickets, shipping included. Besides from the Gold Standing which is sold out and was more expensive, all the tickets are standing - so your place in the field depends on when you show up at the venue.

Quote:
So, how many tix have they sold so far?
Have no idea...

Hope this helps - I know Ice and Jovian covered some of the stuff, but I just wanted to give my views on things.

Depends on what you qualify as a hotel. Even the ones that cost more than a 5 star room in Helsinki are usually just tiny rooms without windows and with just a bed, nothing else. And you usually get the bugs included. So, no, if you haven't tried a hotel in London, don't. Unless of course you can afford the good ones. But I honestly never thought the hotels in London could be that bad for that amount of money.

2€ + 2.50% of the amount. Not bad and beats carrying large amounts of cash around.

Sure, works fine.

I think 30 pounds per night in the centre of London isn't bad. True - you can't expect anything luxurious with that money, but I personally don't need luxury. I've stayed in a hotel in London, can't remember how much it was but it was a three-star. There was water dripping from the ceiling onto a closet, which was totally rotten. I went to tell the hotel staff about it, and they came and took MY towel and threw it on the cupboard. Problem solved. The hotels are bad but for a few nights you can stand anything.

I think that's expensive. Maybe it's just that because I did that for 5 months and calculated how much I lost in the trade it was quite a large sum. So my view is based on that. Of course it's much safer than carrying large sums of cash with you.

I can recommend the St.Pancras Hostel
It's very clean and very modern and cheap (25 pounds a night). Usually in a dormitory of 4 beds
here's the link: https://www.yha.org.uk/make_booking/...hostel173.html
