Funny you say this because at the time, I knew I was gonna get flack for it sooner or later but I would do it again with no regrets. Plus, I went out to get a water after feeling light-headed from that woman smoking all that pot next to me and made it back in time for Bed of Roses

Uh, so? What's wrong with that? I've seen some pretty average shows in Philly the last few tours so it was the best show I have seen at the time I said it. Doesn't mean it has to be your "best/favorite show".

I never said that, and I don't think anyone said that. I'm pretty sure everyone who stayed over at Kathleen's house agreed that it was just a good show. You were just ripping it to shreds because you didn't get that one song that had never been played before.

No, your definitition of a rare song is ridiculous. Rare means infrequently happening, uncommon. And by going for the real definition of the word instead of your definition of the word, Dry County, Always, Never Say Goodbye, Just Older, Living In Sin and Diamond Ring are all rare songs. Yes, a few more wouldn't have hurt, but to say that there were none planned is ridiculous.

Bullshit. The last show by Bruce Springsteen was 3 hours and 15 minutes long and had the full Born In The USA album in the set. That's why there weren't many other surprises in there. So what's that stuff about it being not too great?

No, Pearl Jam are a band with 3 hits and a completely different fanbase that don't give a shit what's played as long as it's their music. Bon Jovi can't do the same. Yes, the setlists Bon Jovi played at Giants could've been a lot better, but there's no way Bon Jovi can pull off the same thing Pearl Jam does.

Erm, there were 4 afterparties and you need anyone to come back?

You misunderstood. I disagreed with the fact that it's one of the best shows ever, not with the fact that it's your best show ever. I'm just saying that I've seen the band do much much better shows and this wasn't one of those.

Disagree. DC had been played at Giants in 06, at MSG 08 so no need to play it twice in a week at NMS. Same with Living in sin, that got played in 07 at the pru and MSG. Diamond ring I reckon is getting played on average about every 4 shows so again its not rare. Just to put in perspective I heard 4 songs (not inc Circle tracks) I'd never heard before at my first 02 show than I did in 3 nights in NJ. As i've said, still very good shows + performances but I agree with Mark in the fact they didnt give us one TRUE WOW song in 70 odd songs accross the 3 nights.

I know what you mean, but there's a difference between a TRUE WOW song and a rare song. I agree with that as well, but to say there was no rare song planned is just silly. They did play Dry County for the die hards only. It's just a shame that Jon doesn't dare to go any further than that.

hmmmmm THANK YOU - come with me on my island Its a nice place

it is thinking and speaking like this that might get us some true rarities - casuals wont know the difference anyways but if everyone (esp hardcores) gives them a pass and and thinks Just Older is a rarity then that is how it will stay...if you settle for less thus you will probably receive.

a - i didnt rip the show to shreds - it was a good show - i think i stated that more than once - i ripped the setlist to shreds - i just said the performance wasnt GREAT - which i believe you gave it a mediocre rating yourself after your post-high come down.

Whoever made the great point that if its for the die-hards bec casuals wont know it anyway is spot on. The same people wont know the song so if you wanna think these songs are rare go ahead. Even though DR is played every four shows it was actually rare for US in NJ. One rarity planned. Plain and simple.

Yes i understand the difference between PJ and Jovi. Im clearly not stating that it should be the same but if we got one or two we would all prob be much happier. The point of the that was how they closed the stadium only. I think you missed that. You dont play the same setlist as every night on OPENING night. If Bruce played a great show to close that wasnt what i heard but thinking back maybe it was bec there were a lot of expectations of super-cool craziness that didnt pan out - if im wrong i stand corrected.

only on that though

I actually think you miss the whole point on bands like pearl jam or the black crowes and it isnt just jam bands per se...its not that the fans dont CARE what song is played the point is that the fans and the MUSIC is RESPECTED enough to play deep catalog cuts often. I understand BJ have to play a practically GH show every night but they dont have 25 GH. Its the respect for the music and the fans that makes those shows and those bands special, EVERY NIGHT. BJ isnt even supporting their LATEST tour-namesake album. In case anyone hasnt noticed this is already the GH tour. we certaily arent sacrificing catalog cuts for the sake of the new album - another atrocity that seems ceaseless.

and yes it would be nice to have seen everyone at the afterparities - i would have to gone to those if my car didnt break down even though i was staging my mini-protest on the other Giants shows.

Someone has to explain to Kat why the Rangers rock - See you at the Rock for the first meetup
