I will say one thing: That version of Don't Look Back In Anger is terrible.

Whoa, missed the arguments in here!

I was at the show, and can see everyones point here. Overall it was definitely a very positive experience, not gonna complain too much at all. Regardless of number of shows I've been to, I have been quite the obsessed fan since around 98-99 so I know what Richie has been/is capable of. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion indeed!

Anyhow, negative points (ok, everyone has already said pretty much everything but what the heck) were quite obviously Don't Look Back in Anger, which I think we all agree on wasn't a success. Richie didn't know the lyrics, tried too hard to sound like someone else (Lol at the Liam/Noel thing too) etc, but I enjoyed the little solos he put in it at least.
Another one was his dirty weird talk leading up to Sugardaddy. Never really liked the song, but it was better live than studio, probably for the fact that most things can be rockin when you're in the crowd enjoying yourself. I don't really listen to Who Says either if I can choose something else, but still don't stand there with my arms crossed rolling my eyes when Jovi play it.... which leads to Who Says done by Richie. It had way more energy than recent Jovi versions to be honest, and it was good fun. Not too many 'it's alright's either, ha!

Hard Times Come Easy was great, from where I was (at the front), people seemed to love it in general. Stranger was obviously good, it can't not be. I loved Richies version of Prayer, mostly for the fact that his voice sounded strong when he sang/played around with the audience. Wanted was good, could have had more of Richies kinda "trademark 2nd verse showoff singing", but it wasn't disappointing either. Like Andi said, the beginning of the solo disappeared due to some sort of sound glitch, but still. IBTFY was very good too I thought...

So in general, I would of course have LOVED to hear more old songs. I tend to prefer old stuff to new stuff most of the time with all bands I listen to, so that's no surprise. But also, I would have loved to hear Seven Years Gone and Always Walk Beside You... so that was missed of course. However, aside from the Oasis cover, there wasn't really anything that I would have preferred not to hear. It was a good night. Night 2 was probably better in some ways (TD for instance!!!) but I had a great night and Richie seemed to enjoy himself. Didn't think his guitar playing was bad either... or his voice. Sure he didn't hit all the notes that he hits on the record or whatever, but for a first night of the tour- not bad at all. I was lovin it. Just for the people who are lucky enough to see more shows or who have theirs to come still, I hope he throws in a couple of more old songs, along with SYG and/or Walk Beside You.... and less Oasis (lol).

Even 'terrible' would be an understatement. I thought the voice thing was a spoof at first..but he kept singing.. I could sense the collective awkwardness of the crowd around me, much like when Richie was being a sleazeball during sugar daddy... two very odd moments in an otherwise great gig.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

It's not that the version is bad. It's that it's SO bad it makes me want to push my finger through my eye, into my brain, and swirl it around.

Richie tried to have fun with the version, not memorize the lyrics and read on a screen was not a good idea. We should not make much noise about it.

It's a forum. If I want to make noise, I'll make noise. And if want to quote Friends, I'll quote Friends.

The arguement about how bad Dont Look Back In Anger was is getting boring now. The last posts about it all say the same. For me he compensated it with the Abbey Road Melody which I think was awesome!

I salute you,
TS

Sugar daddy, he was basically just telling what the song is about. Since when are we offended when a rock n roll singer starts to talk a little dirty. Ac/dc, guns n roses anyone?

It is a fun song and i digged his performance of it totally.

Yeah , i am with you. + though his performance of the song was not the best ( sounding like a mix between sambora and gallagher is obviously not the best choice), it give him A+ for playing that song. It was unexpected, nice to see how he respects that song,. Maybe they just didn't rehearse the song enough and that is why it didn't come over a strong as it should have.

And when richie starts playing the beatles, he is at his best.
