definitely...

when did this curfew business begin? I remember hearing springsteen did 4 hour sets going till 2-3 am , because he used to come on quite late...
I'm not sure. Some places don't have curfews and others do. When I saw the guys in St. Louis in 2000, they did 4 encores and Jon looked like he wanted to play some more. I have heard that the places that do have curfews are much stricter about enforcing them now than they used to be. As I understand it, they put heavy fines on the band and promoters (which pisses the promoters off and is bad business on part of the band).

We need a "MusicRevolution" to overthrow the system...

Marxist theory to the music industry... he'd turn in his grave

I don't know about venue curfews too much. But as for opening acts I have two opinions! One, I would LOVE to just see Bon Jovi for like three hours or more without having to sit through an opening act. However, I did think the Goo Goo Dolls were amazing and did a fantastic job opening the show - the crowd was totally into them. It all depends on who it is - this is the first time I've ever enjoyed a BJ opening act. I think the reason they still have opening acts is because that's how they started, and big bands took them on the road to give them a shot - and look what happened!!!! I think maybe it's Jon trying to give some other band the same shot they had. Opinions???

but when BJ were given a chance by ZZ Top Scorpions etc... noone knew their music at all (with minor exceptions)... BJ are picking bands who can do fine without them

okay - that's a good point! I guess I was referring to the days when they took Skid Row and Cinderella on the road with them....
but of course if I had a choice I would prefer no opening act!

I don't know... SR-71 and Less Than Jake were opening acts in the USA for the Crush and One Wild Night tours. Neither were very well known. SR-71 had one minor hit and most of us had never heard of LTJ at all. Skid Row were unheardofs before getting on the Bon Jovi tour. The Goos being the opening act this time around is a pleasant shock. Other opening acts I've seen are Dokken (not gonna pack any stadiums); Extreme (fairly popular at the time, but not popular enough to headline); and Sage (a local band).

Dokken are playing with Whitesnake and Scorpions in a rock headline tour of the USA - though i know what you mean - by themselves no

i prefer small venues - more intimate anyway

They're gonna need a support act and keep the set to a 2 1/2 hour minimum cos Jon's voice won't last. He struggles enough as it is, with the current setlist. I think its cool u c other bands and get more for your money though, but wen u have acts like Ronan (maybe) supporting, it makes u think twice.
