Default Technical Hitches this tour

Bonjour

There's a few things that happened this tour that kinda bothered me in the sense of 'come on Obie/sound guys, sort it out'. I'll list the few first:

Jon's mic being far too low in the mix at the start of 'Prayer (when used as an opener). In Manchester it didn't kick in at all til 'Gina works the diner....'

Dave's mic being far too low in IBTFY (I wasn't there when you were happy etc.)

Dave and Richie's Mics being far too low at the start of the second verse of WGIGO ('You got a ticket to kick it....' etc and 'Tonight, you got the right.....'). You could barely even hear them at the end of the line when the sound guys realised.

Daves gain on his S58 being too high for the run down right before the second verse in Dry County meaning it sounded very distorted.

Whilst i'm at it, has anybody ever, ever heard The Distance live with Dave's Keyboards being audible when the song kicks in? It's always Richie's power chords......pisses me off for some reason lol.

Maybe I only notice these things because stuff like that interests me but whatever. Thoughts anyone?

Dave

I didn't notice any of the mics seeming too low in the mix in Manchester Maybe from further back they didn't sound too great, but I was in the GC and thought everything sounded fine.

YES. I've totally thought that before too. The Carson Daly performance, especially, sounds like it's completely off. I noticed at the Japan '07 show, Richie plays the lead part in the intro instead of the power chords, I thought that was cool.

And in Prayer after the solo, the part "We gotta", almost can't be heard.

Isn't this for every openingsong?
When I think about it. I could hear him sing the openinglines of Last Man Standing at Milton Keynes, but then again, I stood just a few meters away form him. Maybe I heard him without the PA?

This is always a problem, seems like it comes as a surprise to the soundengineer that Dave sings something. Like if he sings a verse in In These Arms too.

Bugs the shit outta me, its not hard for them to know that If Richie is singing I'll be there for you, then Davids mic NEEDS to be turned up before the song kicks in, NOT halfway through his one line, it sounds a mess. You'd think after X hundred shows (its the same tour crew) that they should see it coming, the bunch of numpties.

Prayer as the opener in Manchester and Twickenham, couldn't hear the opening lyrics.

Yeah Prayer in Manc was definitely without vocals for part of the first verse, normally cant hear the "Once upon a time" bit, but a whole chunk of the verse was missing!
