Seb - Just wanted to chime in on this. For the US shows, I can see why Born to be my baby is always there. Not sure about elsewhere, but in the states this was a HUGE hit. It went to #3 for them and was on the charts for quite some time It was a much bigger hit than Lay Your Hands On Me or Living In Sin. Chart wise, it was bigger than Wanted. The video was even bigger on MTV. Of course, that begs the question, why was it left off of Crossroad, but I digress.

As for Sleep..., I have absolutely no idea why that has stayed in the setlist for so long (in the states). It peaked in the upper 80's or low 90's to my recollection.

I know, I know. But still, Born To Be My Baby charted at 22 in the UK, 25 in Switserland and didn't chart at all in Holland. It was only in the charts in Europe for roughly 3 weeks, while most songs from the nineties were in there for at least well over a month and cracked the top 20.

i have to say i agree with most of sebs posts here - and i know kathleen has said bruce doesnt change it up nearly as much as people think...

but really - we dont have to have pj or the black crowes which would be great but something - its basically the same set everytime...i literally go to the shows bc i love the band and its always great but ive got the bootlegs and at this point i believe i could actually PERFORM the show were tico or jbj to fall down!

and were back

but yeah - something - one or two songs a night out of 25 keeps everybody happier - it aint perfect but i think worth the effort and plus i would think it would keep the band fresh - i gotta think it gets monotonous after all this while.....

Even not including 80s rareities (due to either vocals/key problems etc ) they could still surprise alot of us by throwing in more recent material with the likes of The distance, Undivided, Novacaine, Next 100 years etc and more songs of These Days. And if theres going to be covers, some GOOD ones like With a little help from my friends (they performed this a few weeks ago, why not stick this into the set now?).

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

But it's subjective, because as the tour progresses, they're using more and more random post 2000 songs. The problem is, people complain that those aren't the ones they prefer, which really can't be helped. *shrugs*

Exactly. They did 40 unique songs during the 3 nights in Chicago -- counting covers done in full, but not the 4 covers that were just done in part. (Ten more than danfan demanded in order to keep showering, btw! Who thinks the band heard about this and wanted to be WAY on the safe side?) We weren't thrilled with all the changes, but I'm sure some people were. And I think most of us can agree that there were some real gems thrown in.

Really? Which ones? Out of those 40 unique songs only 2 were rare songs. The others all have been played to death at some part of their career over the last 8 years.

Yes it can.

Captain Crash and Just Older are the album cuts from Crush that have survived from the Crush album, and even though there are 6 other album cuts from the Crush album, those are the ones they stick to. Would it really hurt to play One Wild Night for a change?

During the Have A Nice Day Tour Bon Jovi chose to perform Bounce as an album cut from the album Bounce. Now the Lost Highway Tour is on the roll, and which album cut is played? Exactly, Bounce. Why can't that one be Hook Me Up?

It might look like mixing up to you, but with Bon Jovi's history chances are slim that on the next tour all of a sudden One Wild Night will be played instead of Just Older. Just like it won't be Hook Me Up instead of Bounce.

Further on, there were these albums called Keep The Faith and These Days. Both contained 12 tracks, which makes 24 unique songs. Out of those 24 unique songs, you only get to hear 3 of them, all coming from Keep The Faith.

It's not that hard to understand.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Thing is, everybody would be so much more satisfied if they just insisted on playing album cuts from the 80's and 90's instead of the 00's. Why play Misunderstood or Complicated with the back catalogue that they have? I just don't get it, and I never will.

It really is odd.

I think there is some truth in sticking with the easier songs to sing.

Take 'Crash' and 'Complicated' or 'Story of my life' they are easy to sing but replace them with 'Hey god' and 'Undivided' or 'Something for the pain' and Jon then would have to raise the bar vocally, can he do it? Maybe but I think it is easier not to try IMO.

because jon likes to think the new stuff is amazing and relevant and that they are not a (forgive me for trotting this phrase out) 'nostalgia act'
