I don't care about any of The Circle songs. I don't want to hear them. I don't like the album, it is crap. I am going to see them for the older songs, the good songs, not the crap that makes up The Circle.

Crap is Lost Highway, Crap is Captain Crash, Crap is We Got It Going On, Crap is Summertime, Crap is I Love This Town, etc...

Behind some years, some fans will be asked in the circle shows the forgotten songs, brokenpromiseland, learn to love, thorn in my side, etc. ..

Sad But True.

Now is the time for a change.

All sets should be a healthy mix, while focusing on the new material with at least 5 songs a night. That's what I think anyways... and at my shows, some of the new stuff went over very well and some didn't. That's how it always goes.

I want more Circle songs too... I really wish they'd work out a way to do Brokenpromiseland more! Arg!!!

People are comparing this to These Days, but that album has gotten decent play during the past two tours, with having one be pretty much a regular this tour. I'm very happy about that! I'm hoping The Circle doesn't turn into Bounce because that is one they ignore! It's interesting that for the most part, even though it hasn't been the most recent shows, 7800 has gotten more play than Bounce this tour.
My first disclaimer is that I hate the Circle songs and so i would gladly see a setlist with none of these played. However, I agree with you when you say that a tour should have 4-5 new songs from an album.

As much as I hate the Circle there should be 5 new songs from a new album in my opinion (well it depends on the album, but perhaps 2-5 depending on quality). the issue with bon Jovi is that they also play 4-5 off Lost Highway, 2-3 off Crush... often the TLFR songs as "rarities" and you end up with shows that are 20% nostalgia, 40% new album, 40% last 2 albums (I've not necessarily done this mathematically correctly! but you get the point)!

A good setlist should have room to have:

(1) The 4-5 songs all fans/casual fans will know you for
(2) 4-5 songs off your new and recent albums
(3) "the rest"*

* That leaves about 15 that should be able to be rotated/changed/played as you feel like. It might be that 12 or 13 out of those 15 are the additional "greatest hits" - KTF, SIBSN, ISWID, ITA... but the real wrong thing for me is that with every tour post 2000 the songs most of us are fans of slowly taper away and the setlists get diluted.

I think I saw Bruce do 80 songs in 5 shows on his last tour but there was still the core setlist comprising of the crowd-pleasers, the audience singalongs (Waitin on a sunny day, working on a dream, girls in their summer clothes, Mary's Place...) which maybe took up at least 8-10 songs. The issue is that you then had about 20 songs to play around with that would genuinely move aruond every show. And actually it wasn't uncommon to come away from the show and not see any of the "greatest (Bruce) hits" with Badlands/Born to Run perhaps notable exceptions. Bruce not playing a song like Thunder Road is tantamount to Bon Jovi not doing Wanted or Livin' On a Prayer.

So I, and many people like me are accused of being nostalgic, impossible to please, unrealistic, and when we use examples of the above just get retorts such as "Bon Jovi aren't Bruce & the E Street Band", but we've all seen moments with Jon has got the setlists just right (1 out of 8 O2 shows I saw probably got close to this)... the question is, why not a little bit more often?

Do you really think Jon doesn't want to play every every Circle song each night? I'm sure he'd love to, but crowd reactions have forced his hand.
But some of the songs haven't even been given a chance. Brokenpromiseland which is alot of fans favourite has only been played ONCE on the whole tour!
Loves the only Rule and Thorn in My Side always seem to have gone across OK aswell.

That's not very nice considering they charge a lot of money for tickets!

I think 4 Circle song is enough for a 22 song setlist. If they play 25 or 26 then 5 is the max.

Yes and that is absolutely atrocious!

They should be playing more songs. As much as I'd hate to hear more Circle crap, the tour IS meant to promote the album, and they are hardly doing that.

Even if the new songs haven't gotten a great reaction initially, what happened to the "we'll win them over by just playing the shit out of it" attitude that the band used to display? I'm not living in the past, and I love the current shows. But I just don't get giving up on The Circle songs. At all.

Love's the Only Rule should be played every night. Learn to Love or Fast Cars could be done on the circle sometimes. Happy Now seems to work better as an opener than Blood on Blood. Brokenpromiseland deserves another shot; this could be awesome live if they iron out the creases with a bit of practice and effort. Thorn is a hundred times better live than it is on the record.

If they can play This freaking Left Feels Right songs on the HAND tour, and TLFR Bed of Roses on the LH tour, then they can and should be playing Circle songs on the ****ing Circle tour.
