Hi everyone..
I've reading for a while and I want to share my opinion.
There are 2 things here:
On one side, The Circle hasn't sell so much, but only if we compare with other records..I think the selling was good anyway(Platinum in Canada I heard now) but I guess they want a complete success to play the song or I can imagine that.Well done or bad done is a different topic, (not well for me)

Songs like Captain crush work..yeah,right, because everybody waves their arms, but a song can not be considered just for that kind of reasons,if they do that it's stupid and too easy...If they wanna reach the mass..then they are doing right, but the problem is they will play only Hits aired on the radio and the crowd will also get bored in some time...I don't think this should be an excuse.

For example,Jon likes a lot to play covers..and not everybody attending a BJ show know the covers, but he really enjoys and at the end everyone enjoys(or most of the crowd).Another example,Dry county,Diamond Ring, homebound train..do you really think everybody knows those songs? They were no hits, they were not number one or aired on radio..and I'm absolutely sure a lot of people are standing quite, not singing and waiting for the next "HIT",so why do they play them?because they want to please their fans and they do for us..maybe not for the rest of the mass but anyone of us here cares?and now here we care about if "broken promiseland" work or not? It's the same case!

I think the thing here is that Jon wants to please everybody so he makes a set list for the mass..and that's impossible to do,because you will be only playing hits to people that might not give a damn about your records and only know your greatest hits. So, Thought I understand the reason why they might not play The Circle songs, I do not thing they are doing right. If it's the Circle tour you should play the circle songs..I like Lost Highway, but this is not a lost highway tour again..and the greatest hist come next year.
They should be more true to themselves.

So, basically, the majority of the audience members are buying tickets to the evil "nostalgia show" that Jon claims will NEVER happen?! Throw a couple of new songs in from The Circle and Jon is satisfied that it's NOT a nostalgia show...hmmmm....

I have to say, "Work for the Working Man" went over like a lead balloon at the final NJ show too. In my section, at least a dozen people got up and left to use the bathroom or to get drinks when it started! Says a lot!

There is nothing 'rock' about The Circle.

I do love the Circle but originally felt that Love's the Only Rule and Thorn were a couple of the more average tracks on the album. Now they're the ones I'd really love to hear live (as opposed to, say, Fast Cars which - beyond all normal comprehension - I still like).

I love Fast Cars, and I honestly DO believe if they gave it a chance, it might work and win over people.
It's a short song, it's melodic, catchy, and has a pretty energetic chorus that could translate incredibly well in a live environment.
Now let the "dude you're crazy to think that THAT song is good" comments start

Dude... You're Crazy to think that that song is good :/

No, but really, I'd love to discover how would it sound live
It's not that bad of a song like many here seem to think.

Wasn't you that hated every single song from The Circle?

It's comforting to know that if the band does play Fast Cars, I won't be the only person run off this board.
