Aloha !

Alright, I've kind of stayed out of this Hall of Fame discussion. For whatever reason this thing is really important in America and has been of major importance in the life of a lot of fans, so I deemed it a no go area. If it honestly means this much I don't feel the need to go on and try to have my own party over it just because I'm not feeling it. There's been enough rain the last few years anyway. I don't really understand why this thing is so important though. I've always thought it's a weird idea to get an elite club of people decide as to whether you've been important enough for enough people to make a stamp on music history. Still, that said, as for what it's worth, I think the Hall of Fame is mostly some personal reward and acknowledgement for them, as to how they did start as some guys from Jersey and have made it so far.

So yeah, good to see everyone's happy. Seeing Richie back on stage with the other guys is kind of showing everything what's wrong with Bon Jovi when he's not there. As much as he's a charicature of a rock star nowadays, he's also the closest to a rock star Bon Jovi's ever had and another indication as to how much the dynamic has changed. As much as they've got their shit together, they're also a very bland group of people who lack identity. As for the performance, shame Richie ****s up pretty much every solo he was supposed to do, and why he's out anyway. And no, he's not doing a different solo, because different solo's are still in key.

And yes, Jon does sound like ass though, but I'm surprised to hear how much Richie's harmony's are still needed to make Jon sound better. As for getting emotional, nah...I don't get teary eyed over these things because I don't feel any attachement to Bon Jovi, nor do I get giddy over photo's over 5 guys who're only together over something they did 20 years ago. Nostalgia never worked for me, even though I think it's rubbish how there's 3 guys on that stage who've done **** all to get that band on that stage anyway.

As for the speech; I've never watched any of the other speeches. Jon starts of rather intertaining though, but once it changed from mentioning names and places to bringing up Grammy's, a number 1 tour and eventually him plugging an album devoid of any of the soul and musicianship that made me a fan and has nothing to do with the reason as to why they got in there I'm reminded as to why I feel so detached from Bon Jovi nowadays. Jon's out of touch with his fanbase and his own music as much as I'm out of touch with what Jon wants to represent nowadays.

If this thing they've currently got going on then I'm happy for you. This band means something different to everyone one of you and just because I find it hard to understand why and how you're feeling about this band and question your opinion doesn't mean I think your love and dedication is wrong as well.

But anyway, back to the old program:

And yes yes I realise I will get lot of hate as I have gone against the grain here.. But... I feel soooooooo much better getting that of my chest.
You don't get hate from going against the grain, you get hate because you're acting like a dick. Honestly, if you're get so butthurt because people disagree with you on the ****ing internet you should think twice when signing in. You're raining on my parade as much as your own here.

There. I feel soooo much better getting that of my chest.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I do wonder if there's a possibility of Richie flitting in and out of Bon Jovi tours or albums going forward, whilst still having the rso outlet. Other bands have members come and go on different tours so it's not beyond the realms but it's all down to jbj on that one.

Was great to see them all together in the clip's I've seen, the first step to them getting back together is the hardest and that's been made now so we'll see going forward if there's any more performing together.

Thanks for posting this, but what a terrible editing. It almost looks like it was done on purpose.

It really highlights how hammered Richie is and how Jon can't sing a note.

WOW WOW WOW
read the whole thread, neagativity kicked in quickly but i thing we should all celebrate this day...we deserve it!!!
Nice speeches overall, especially from tico.
The setlist was weird imo, i d definitely include wanted BUT jon isnt fool, he either didnt sounded good or sth...otherwise he would never choose bad name over wanted...
there were some emotionals moments for me as well...jon and richies hug especially before the performance and jons smile having richie back..
i think shanks and philx stage presence was a compromise from jon in case sth went wrong and also wanted to include them while being on the side , thats how i say it.
when we were us was included because the lyric was too fitting and kuddos to jon for having the balls to try it.
personally i d ditch bad name and put wanted but i guess there will be a reason.
richies solo in loap sounded ok to me, there was a bum note in bad name but give him a break, its an emotional moment and demanding perfection each time is over the top.
happy for the guys, happy for the fans!!!
one last prediction...the ice broke...what will determine jons and richies future will be the songwriting process imo...i predict they ll get together to write a couple of times...if the result is inspiring to jon then we ll see a full richie comeback...

As soon as Richie took the stage, I asked wether or not he drunk. He does look a bit tipsy, doesn't he ?

I don't think Richie heard the question properly. Jon repeated it to him and said "hey iasked if you will play on the next record" not "will you rejoin the band". Richie said "If he asks me" - I think Richie tought he meant like as a guest for on a song or 2, not to be part of the band again.

On another point there is an interview with Richie where Richie points out the he is struggling with his hearing and couldn't hear all of the questions - this is a bit of a worry...

Also :

Do you see it as the beginning of possible getting back together?
Richie: We'll see. You never say never. It's not in any immediate future plan, that's for sure. It's just not. I really want to get this RSO thing off the ground. I'm having a ball.

This part of that Interview is also interesting:

Did you have some deep conversations recently?
Like I say, this is the first time I've been hanging out with the guys for a good three years. We've had a couple of conversations in between, but it wasn't about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or anything like that. It was more about, "How you doing? How's your kids?"

Yeah, "How's your kids? What's going on?" And our kids, this is the first time they've seen each other in three years, and they're over the moon. All the ancillary stuff that goes on, 'cause it is a family.

3 years?! I thought that they hadn't been in toiuch since Richie left?

Pretty sure that what we definitely did witness last night was the last time that Alec will play with the band. He's old and frails, walks with a walking stick. There's no way he's up for a tour these days.
