Just a little factoid - The Cure played yesterday in Bucharest and they played on Bon Jovi's stage. They were amazing by the way.

Yes they were nice but Robert Smith was a bit static imo, but he got a great voice. People who bought tickets to BJ had discount to The Cure concert-festival. Editors were part of the line up as well but there were barely 10-15K people. Also Michael Bolton played yesterday in Bucharest at Sala Bucuresti or something like it and it was a sold out.

Oh and about who got the better crowd in 2011, allow me to disagree:

Cheers!

PS. I remember Jon and Richie mentioning Athens and Zagreb after the 2011 in several interviews

I was only highlighting that The Cure used Bon Jovi's stage for their own show (...or that small festival). Kind of bizarre to have the same stage used by someone else with no reference to Bon Jovi. Would have not happened with some old stage setups. Guess they share promoters or something like that...and the stage is generic enough. Still.

That was a personal opinion, nothing more, having been at a lot of concerts on that tour. I noticed though, that's what happens in Eastern Europe a lot. As soon as you tell people that you have a preference for something, they immediately feel the need to bring up or defend whatever happens/ has happened in their own country, instead of simply enjoying what's in front of their eyes. Not arguing or anything - I'm neither Greek, nor Turkish, nor Romanian Just saying.

I was at 6 shows on the 2011 European Tour and all of them were absolutely brilliant.

Audience was just terrible. Probably the worst audience I've ever saw and honestly we didn't deserve the second encore.
Jon sounded like total s*** but I was jumping all the time and shouting so it didn't really matter.
Had really great time traveling 13 hours to Bucharest and exploring the city over the weekend and I will try to remember this show as positive as possible.

The Bucharest one was probably the best one and to this date, I haven't seen a crowd as wild at a Jovi concert. But even then, the band was broken, Bandiera was playing lead on some songs, Sambora sounded thin as ****, Jon and Richie had about as much chemistry as Axl and Slash on their reunion tour, we were being treated to masterpieces such as Work for the Working Man or I Love This Town. Those shows were only good in comparison to the 2008-10 shows (and compared with whatever trainwreck came after). But they weren't great shows in the history of Bon Jovi. Not even close.
I disagree. Sure, maybe they're not the best shows compared to the, over here anyway, overrated 1995/1996 tours but that month and half of 24 shows in 2011 was the most consistently great month of Bon Jovi shows in about 15 years. I've no idea how any fan can trash those shows when you get rarities, a feeling of not knowing what to expect next, Jon mostly singing again, he was rarely ever moody on stage and an overal refusal to play on autopilot for most shows. And as for your "There was an I Love This Town..." the chance of getting These Days in your encore was twice as big as I Love This Town, which kind of says something considering Bon Jovi's history with playing anything of that record. And just for argument's sake, Work For The Working Man was played just 4 times in Europe that leg.

I've seen plenty of shows in the last 20 years and both Barcelona and Mannheim were about the best I've seen the band do and of the other 6 shows I saw that year I'd say there was only 1 really shitty show. It took 4 world tours for Jon and the band to play on that level again. If that tour didn't feature great shows in the history of Bon Jovi I don't know what does. It blew awaw almost everything I'd seen the band do in the 10 years before that, pretty much every die hard at that time was happy and it was a real sudden return to a form most fans had been dying to see every time they'd left on a high from just one great show on previous tours.

Yeah, because Jon mentions the places he enjoyed most visiting. He remembers **** all about the crowds really. And Richie barely knows where he is anyway. It's rather silly to say it was the best crowd of the tour when it was both your first Bon Jovi show, you've not seen any other shows that tour and it being one of the shortest shows of the tour. I've no idea what to take away from that video either. But 'ey, if it makes you feel better to brag about your own people feel free to do so.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

No offense, pal, but I think I've heard you mention this like ten times by now

Sure the setlists were decent and at times great and even though Jon sounded better than before or after, he still didn't sound great. I specifically recall him struggling with Always in Istanbul. He was terribly static though, he moves a lot more on this tour. Might have to do with some knee issue I recall him having, doesn't change it though. And the sound of the band was terribly thin, mostly to do with Sambora and Bobby Bandiera having about as much synergy playing together as night and day have. I would even dare say that the band sounds miles better on this tour, especially on the 80s songs and the Lost Highway songs.

So, if setlists are the only factors that matter, than sure, Hard Rock Calling, Munich and Bucharest had 9/10 setlists. But that's just a part of a concert experience. Otherwise I would never see Iron Maiden, AC/DC or the Scorpions 5-6 times on the same tour.

Finally, I am not a Bon Jovi die hard by any means, even though I have probably seen them about 30 times. I'm an 80s die hard. I see way too many concerts of way too many bands. But that's a different story all together. Not many bands I like tend to do outdoor shows though, and I'm simply addicted to the rush.

For what it's worth, in 2011 I would've done anything to attend the European tour and this year I'd rather go see a tribute band (a bad one).
