Springsteen's drummer Max is 70 and can easily go for 3+ hours but his style has never been overly heavy so he can keep up without becoming exhausted. The same can be said for The Stones, Fleetwood Mac etc

He's also been playing outdoors in a wet and chilly European summer with lots of travelling which definitely wouldn't have helped his performances.

I don't disagree with anything you said. 100% he hasn't seemed to be enjoying some of these shows as he has in the past. I think it was Moscow that I noticed that he seemed like it was requiring more effort and, frankly, looked plain worn out, like he was just trying to get through the set. Maybe he's just tired of the whole shebang.

I admit that I could be in left field about something besides age (or in combination with age) being the primary cause of what we're seeing. But if it's just getting older, it sure caught up with him fast.

Max is 68, just 3 years older than Tico, and unlike Tico he hasn't been a smoker most of his life. Tico's endurance and lung capacity are likely reduced in comparison due to this.

I think the tour for the next album will probably be Tico's last.

Yeah, there's no doubt that smoking has played a part too, especially as his style is physically demanding.

Max is a great drummer with perfect technique which helps too. He's never hunched over his set. He lets his wrists do the work.

Yeah - I remember that too To be fair however, the rest of that tour was fantastic.
