Love the review BJFan. Really good to hear someone have a great time, but also be realistic about Jon's limitations, rather than claim he's improving and sounding better than he has for years! Can totally relate with you, as far as still loving this band despite everything, I know it may not seem like it from some of my posts, but most of them come from a place of frustration! There's optimism and then there's realism.

As for Phil, he's so out of his depth in the bluesier stuff it's not even funny. But that's just the type of player he is, and why I will always maintain he's not the best fit for Bon Jovi....

PS. I was nearly crying at the end of These Days, when Jon made us sing the woo-ooh’s. The way he stood there, pointing the mic on us over and over again, his facial expression telling of him being completely possessed by the moment... that was our Jon, the one we all know and love. That moment in that song made me think about the time I was a 4-year-old kid hearing TD for the first time. Prior to last night, I never thought I’d ever be able to hear it live - and then I did.

These kinds of special moments are the reason why, despite all the vocal issues, crappy set lists, lousy new albums etc., I still love this band, and always will.

I think that review from BJFan is a perfect representation of Bon Jovi at this point in their career. Are they any near where they were at the end of the greatest hits tour? No, but you can still have a damn good time at one of their shows.

The last time I listened to HAND was in 2017 February 16th, it was so awful (here) I haven't listened since then. I thought I check this one, because of the visuals and I was pleasantly surprised, it was totally acceptable.

I'm not taking part in these "Jon's voice improved or not" debates, I'm just reading, but this performance was way better.

Of course there's no doubt wanted is awful.

I though the same about HAND. It has been one of the most dreadful songs in the set (in terms of performance) since the stadium tour in the US in 2013! This one was okay by today's standards. He kept (for most parts) the pace and there was some voice of his audible. I'm not saying his voice has improved, but he manages it to get through that song better with what he has left.

To me he seems to have learnt how to sing with his current voice better if that makes any sense. His vocal chords won't have changed much but he seems to have learnt more how to sing round his limits. It's obvious that it still isn't good, but as others have said it's closer to acceptable.

45 000 is the official number from LiveNation. It is surely more but the capacity for this concert configuration is 60 000 so not more than that for sure... The venue takes 70 000 when the stage is in the middle of the field and the additional stand is in use.

Also it's uphill from the stage to the back so from this angle it looks much tighter that it actually is. I was there a year ago to witness that.

Always the same thing in the beginning of a tour. Just give it a week or two.

Yep, that’s how I felt in 2017. I seems that Jon is fully aware of his limits nowadays, so he can’t just let loose or else he won’t finish a show. Whenever he gets into that zone, it takes a very big toll on him. RIR2017 was one of the most insane crowds I’ve ever seen (this is coming from someone who’s seen Oasis in Argentina 3 times), and it was heart touching to see how Jon reacted to that.
