Default The Official June 21, Wembley Stadium, London, England Thread

Back at the hotel.
Wembley really is a shit hole. 90,000 people heading for 2 platforms. Joke.

Manics - thought they were solid. Nothing from gold against soul album which is my fav so bit disappointed. No need for the sweet child cover. Songs been played to ****ing death. They did do it well though.

Bon Jovi....thought Jon was on excellent form. No issues at all with vocals. The band were great. Tico was a beast...but...that set...crap.
Yes we got Always (which done great) but the rest was the same old same old. Nothing for die Hard.
Songs that don’t work...lost highway duo, amen and wwbtf - they need to go.

Band 8/10
Jon 8/10
Set list 4/10

On the train back. Was a fun show, helped by the crowd. I was a fair way back but the atmosphere was brilliant. Looked as good as sold out bar the usual corporate seats/no shows. The sound was ok where I was, you couldnt hear Jon too well but that's ok when frankly it was a Friday night and everyone was drinking and singing along. I bought the £80 standing tickets thinking it would be my last show, but after tonight I dont think it will be. If a good time is what you want and demand from your ticket, the show they put on delivers. If its great singing and a lead guitarist that is true to the original sound of the band you're after, you'll be disappointed. The band lost alot from their live performance when Richie left and that was evident tonight, but there is still a great night to be had. The only criticism I have is the whole show was too choreographed for my taste. The crowd was strong tonight and i'm sure Jon and the band barely deviated from the script they've been peddling since the first date of this tour. It's a shame that there was no sense of being in the moment and reacting to the relationship with the audience. The glory days may have gone, but I suspect the band will see themselves through playing rock n roll songs that a stadium can sing a long to. They still do that very well.

Well, how was Always?
He sounded good throughout the show, only a 2 song encore and guessing Always took a lot out of him. I would say the best Always for a long time.

Yep I'd agree with that, was thinking they would do These Days after Prayer but nothing...

His vocals were way better than I expected and he nailed Always.. but I thought he would throw the kitchen sink in for Wembley but not.

Just got back to the hotel from the show. Yes, the setlist could have used one of IBTFY or These days, but we got Always.

Jon was running around like it was 1995! I was amazed! He pumped up the crowed all the time. Haven't seen this kind of energy from him in years.

Yes, he teared up at the end of Prayer, I think it was a very emotional gig for him.

His voice held up strong, when you are in the crowd in the first row of GC you don't even bother listening if he is hitting high notes.
However, he gave a pretty good vocal performance if you ask me. I'll need to watch videos to make sure.

And finally, I hope they make a film out of this Wembley show. Just like in 1995. I think it would make a great Live from London 2.

Will probably review tomorrow but what a great show. Got to say sound was grand where I was, bottom tier in line with back of GC. One of the loudest I’ve been at. Got to quit the Phil X bashing. Let me introduce the man on my left on guitar......woman behind screeches Richie then boos when not him. Pathetic. Phil is great, the band has evolved, he’s part of it and brings and extra vibe with his attitude and love of being there compared to the last few years of Richie. Loved it but next time you promise to break the curfew Jon, don’t finish 10mins early. Saying that always and prayer were so immense, there was no other song to send everyone home with.

This is the best Jon has sounded since mid-2013. His singing sounds a lot fuller now than it did from 2015-2017, even during the verses. All of Jon's anger at the current state of his voice, and his drive to push on despite these setbaks, came out during the final chorus. I don't think I've seen him that emotional at a show since Milan 2013 when the audience did that choreography during BWC. And Phil's solo at the end was one of the best solos I've seen him play with the band to date.

After seeing that performance I think Jon could still pull off a semi-decent Hey God or TAALS if he really tried.

I hope they release this performance on their YouTube channel.

Anyone know when they're gonna tweet out the actual setlist so I can update the first post?

He could play it better. He always sounds like he's rushing.

Anyway, the last thing we need is another Phil X discussion.
