Do you feel the same about soccer players ruining the team but "trying" and still being lined up on the field? Would Jon not have been the guy who's the band named after he'd have been kicked out of this band and replaced by someone else. Drunk Richie was more reliable than Jon is nowadays.

I can't get my head around this mentality of yours. I know you're not alone in this, but I just fail to understand it. Going to the show, being fully aware it'll be shit and then walk away saying "It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It was still awful though. But I'll go again next time around because I'm happy he's trying."

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

It's like going to a restaurant where the chef used to be great and now is incapable of fixing a delicious meal, yet saying "I'm happy he's still trying to prepare food, it's not about the taste of the meal for me, but about the overall experience of sitting in the restaurant."

There was a time when our biggest complaint was that Jon was on autopilot, dialing it in.

His voice has greatly deteriorated, but he is giving it all he has at these shows. I'm not sure why it's a bad thing to give him credit for that.

Well, I'm in a different situation. I've never seen them live and whatever shit Jon sounds now, I'm going to Vienna, because finally I can.
I wanted to go in 2008, 2011 and 2013, I just couldn't, but now I can. (oh look at those 2011 setlists, wow (I especially love the Zagreb setlist)).
Knowing my luck the show in Vienna will be cancelled/delayed/the city will be nuked...ahh...

EDIT: I'm watching IBTFY from this show, and Jon sounds the way he sounds, but what this song really needs (or who) is Richie. Especially this part "I wasn't there when you were happy".

I'm in a similar position to you. I've only seen the band once and was too young to really remember it so I'm really looking forward to the 21st so I can see my favourite band. After that, who knows if I'll see them again but at least I'll have that show.

Well, I've not been following the band as long as most of you here, I guess that's why. I know they don't have many years left in them, so I'll just follow them until the imminent retirement. I'll go to the Bucharest show , which will be my first one and I'll try to enjoy it as much as I can.

It's pretty much the same with me. I'll be going to my first show in Bucharest. I hope you enjoy it on the 21st!

Especially when you have to pay 100+ bucks for the concert. If the concert was free I wouldn't care that much but of course it isn't. He offers a service and I pay money for it and get a shitty 'product'. If Jon hadn't presented it as an organisation I would be more empathetic with his situation but there is no reason for me to treat it differently.

BTW: these images at the begining of the show? REALLY? Most of them have zero meaning for the band, even if it has become a cover band.

On a side note: when you are a fan of a sports team you probably wont go to see the because they suck. Most people complain but they still go to the games

You too, I'm sure we'll both have a great time (with the assistance of a couple of beers I imagine)

If I judge majority bands today on their vocalist,I wouldnt go to the shows. BJ as the band are tight, great playing,Jons voice is what it is,sometimes average, sometimes bad, sometimes both at the same time. I'll take it for what it is,dont expect 2011 or 2013 level but for sure I will enjoy my show. Best comparison of some band could be with some football club, you support them, win or lose, playing good or bad,if you are not like that you are not true fan of the club.
