The crowd falls dead each time they do this combo. The casuals don't know them, they're not songs that immediately pull one in and most of the fans who know them would rather hear something else for a change. It was nice to hear them on the Lost Highway tour, but hearing for of them now when they weren't hits (and no Make A Memory which I could give a pass) and only one or two songs from THINFS bothers me. I get that a certain amount of hits need to get played, but I'd also rather have 4 or 5 songs from the album the tour is named after in the set than these again.
I get that Jon's vocal limitations prevent quite a few rare tracks, but the current album is something that doesn't fall in that category.
Exactly - I love Whole Lot of Leavin' and I think the writing on it is great. I loved it when it came out. BUT....so many of these have been overplayed. There are so many songs out there that could be played - and I'm not talking about those from the 80s that are hard to sing. But FFS play the damn THINFS album - it is still what the tour is named for.

I'm at least happy to see he seems into these shows even if his voice is having some problems.
People did used to complain so much about the whole autopilot thing, but at least that is no longer an issue.
Setlist complaints have been around since forever and are not going anywhere. Same for voice complaints, even if it has been getting worse.

I get the impression that he's actively pushing himself to smile and move around more to take some of the spotlight off his ridiculously poor vocals. I don't think he's enjoying himself by any means. He's just acting as if he is.

Yeah, that's how I see it.

At times it looks genuine but a lot of videos I've watched, he pulls away from the microphone fuming and then does a quick smile to make it look better.

He can't be enjoying it... He just can't.

Yep, but most fans fall for that and think it comes "from the heart". With Jon, you can somewhat tell very well if the smile is genuine or put on. The last genuine laughter on stage I've seen was in Stuttgart 2013 when he sang Wanted with that little kid and the last genuine public laughter I can remember was at the HoF induction when Dave told the bowling ball story.

That's really, really bad. Only MSG and Montreal have been worse performances of the song than this, maybe even Endicott was better. I'd rate this around the same level as Santiago. Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Jersey were all much better.

That said, I f*cking miss TD done right:

In the context of a singer being able to sing a song, it's bad. In the context of Jon since 2017 it's okay. That says it all I guess.

I know vocals have been discussed a million times but that performance of I’ll Be There For You was just weird. How can’t he sing the opening line? Yet sound much better in the outro? (I’m not suggesting he’s suddenly become Steve Perry - just better than the beginning noise)

It’s seriously odd.

I'm not a native and I can't always get what Jon says/sings/mumbles during the ad-libs so I asked a friend of mine to do me a little favour. She helped me out but she said she can't listen to him these days at all. Anyways, it's a 'Richie song' so I'm always curious about the performance. Nice to see Jon performing with such a passion here. Faked or not, he looked on fire and that's all what's matters. I do look forward to hearing it live in Warsaw next month...
