On the topic of audibles, how exactly do they work again? Do they depend on Jon's mood? How do they select what songs will be audibles that night?

Yes. They are songs that Jon chooses beforehand and that he might switch in at any given point if he feels like doing so.

Jon finally got what he's been dreading all his life: he sounds like a karaoke singer (a bad one) in a karaoke band (a good one).

And if Jon were being backed by a good GUITAR ROCK karaoke band, it would be even worse.

Whether it's because they solved the sound problems from their previous gig or because they're starting to get used to playing together again, this is the tightest Tico, Hugh and Dave have sounded. But the guitars are still mediocre at best, and the backing vocals next door to nonexistent -- though any improvement in those departments might result in a one-way ticket to the unemployment office!
