Ticket prices for U2, next year in Vienna:
- standing 70 EUR
- far back 40 EUR
- sides 93 EUR
- sides, closer to the stage 110 EUR
- red zone 272 EUR

And, well, its not an exlcusive visit for Europe.

Knowing how much something costs and appreciating the value of money are 2 very different things.

I doubt there are many people here who literally couldn't afford the tickets but when £200+ quid will get you a holiday, spending a large chunk of a weeks earnings on a bon jovi gig isn't a worthwhile prospect.

There's a reason why teenagers will happilly spend £80 on a pair of trainers and £60 on jeans (not necesarilly their own money) whereas people who are actually out earning money and can afford to buy what they want will buy reasonably priced clothes....

i know the ticket prices for the O2 are expensive, but i think they are for most acts there, for instance i found the following article about ticket prices for barbara streisland -

((Legend: Fans rushed to snap up tickets for Barbara Streisand's first show in the UK for 13 years. It sold out in 20 minutes

Streisand drew criticism over the price of the tickets as the cheapest seats at the venue, formerly known as the Millennium Dome, cost £100, whilst the most expensive are £500.

However, fans still raced to snap them up when they went on sale at 9am today.

The ticket prices may be high, but Oscar-winner Streisand has insisted she is grounded and down to earth.))

And my Dad told me that the cheapest tickets he could get for Paul Mccartney were £145 plus fees......

Lets hope they do a stadium tour next year hey!!!

Artists know that people will buy the tickets at these prices thats how they can get away with charging ridiculous amounts of money.

Madonna prices were £65 - £175. There were however only 24 tickets sold at £65 in the initial sales. They ended up reducing the prices after tickets didn't sell. Streisand tickets were also reduced, I know someone who paid £100 off TM for a ticket that as previously £500. McCartney tickets are £55 - £125 face value. Probably start at £145 on the scalper sites.

Prince tickets on the other hand were nearly all £31.21 (and some VIP packages at £250 - they key thing here is that those VIP packages didn't remove the best seats from being sold at £31.21 - I got 3rd row and could have had front row). I can reel off a list of other artists I've seen at the O2 (or elsewhere in London - it's not something specific to the venue) from near the front without being shafted for the ticket price.

Just because an artist "can" find enough people to pay say £1,100 for a pit ticket doesn't mean they actually should charge that.

We don't want friggen cheap seats!!!

I was excited about getting close to them this tour, and yeah...that's very unlikely to happen.

It's just all not fair...

It's not so much ending up with cheap seats, if they priced the whole arena at £45 and I ended up in the top tier I wouldn't be bothered. But the way they have priced it leaves a sour taste. Hope they enjoy some front rows made up of a few fans willing to spend themselves in to huge debt, some competition winners and a bunch of city bankers there to impress their women who lose interest when they band play anything that isn't Prayer, Bad Name or Dead or Alive.

Just checked and all the £248 presale tix on backstage have sold out for every night. So for all the protesting we do it wont make a bit of difference if people are buying them at those prices.
