And second, the songs on LH have the same lyrical/strucatual Bon Jovi stamps as every other record they've released.
I didn't know. Further on, LH has a Bon Jovi sound, but sounds Nashville influenced. If it really was a classic Bon Jovi album, they wouldn't brag about how they evolved and did a Nashville thing. Fans who feel attracted to this sound of the band will be disappointed the next album as it will only have one or two songs to please them.

If you disagree with me, please tell me what identity Bon Jovi have. Their 80's stuff is pretty much straight rock with a pop edge to it, their nineties stuff is more of that but with a change of sound and lyrics with more diverse subjects, and their stuff since 2000 is nothing like that but a bit of anything that was popular at that time they released the album, Lost Highway being the prime example for that theory.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I see what you're sayin, I really do.
My point is though, if you played a LH song for a music listener, they'd almost def. say it's a Bon Jovi song, "Nashville influenced" or not. Personally, I think the bragging thing has more to do with selling records.

Not really. Whenever they're being asked about why you should buy the next album they most definitely answer something like "we evolved as a band and became better" while there's no evolving at any album since it's just more of the last one but with a different producer to get them to sell more records.

If evolving means going from being pretty much an accepted rock band in the nineties to being a pop band no one really takes serious and only sees as a fun band, than I'm missing the point about evolving.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I would say they're a rock band, who (for better or worse) take their base sound (Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bridge, chorus, chorus) and meld it with what's "pop" at he time. In the 80's it was hair band metal, in the nineties it was darker music and lyrics, and in 00's it's been a much poppier return to their 80's sound melded to what was popular at the time, with some exceptions.
But within all the musical changes, many of their songs have core links.
Essentially, all Bon Jovi songs (no matter about period) are about either: Love, Nostalgia, Yearning, Overcoming the odds, belief in oneself.

So you're too lazy to type www.google.com but not to type a long message about why you don't like this band anymore?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why so many people here seem to post when they seem not to like the band anymore? Fair enough if you like them 10, 15+ years ago, but they aren't the same band now so why waste your (and everyone elses) time?

I used to like pop music, stuff from the charts, about 10 years ago - but I don't seek out message boards for those artists now and talk of how I don't like them anymore.

Well if you like wasting your time then go ahead and post as much crap as you like. I think personally I might actually just avoid the Bon Jovi sections of this board, because it really does seem to be more negative than positive of late.

What an egotistical load of horseshit.
