The Lost Highway tour had the best vocals from Jon since the mid-90s, and judging from the state of affairs now, probably the last time we'll ever hear his voice that strong. Okay, the 10-night stand in Newark to kick off the tour was lame. And yes, the bogus country stage was embarrassing and we were all happy when they ditched it. There were also some letdowns at the end of the tour: The Twickenham shows were not what they should have been, and I also think the MSG shows were a pretty shit sendoff; both nights paled in comparison to some shows that went down on the European Leg (also the DVD sucks ass).

But that's my point: There were some damn fine performances throughout that tour, and I remember we were all pretty ****ing elated about it. I'll never forget the shock and excitement we all had when they pulled Always out of nowhere in Iowa... and that Jon sounded really solid on it. Then the very next show in Kansas City we got OWN, Always again, and Hey God. It was a sign of things to come. By the time we got to Rock in Rio, I think the general consensus on here was: "This is the best this band has been since 1995." We were shocked Always and Dry County became semi-regulars. It was obvious the band was getting confidence back as Jon found confidence again in his voice. It was a shame he didn't choose to close out the tour showing off more... instead, as what is per custom for Jon Bon Jovi, he got lazy about it.

But I'll never forget how excited we all were, however briefly, that Jon seemed to have his shit together again. How the hell could that be the worst tour of their career? Sometimes the apologists are right: you guys have very selective memories. We went from HAND tour style setlists with absolutely no good songs to some life at long last. No, the band never properly took advantage because they're lazy and suck. But it was there, and we were thrilled about it.

As far as the worst tour, come on. It's this current one. Even if they end on a strong note, the damage that has been incurred by Jon's unacceptably bad voice, the complete lack of honesty surrounding the Sambora fiasco, and the confounding inability for Bon Jovi management to properly do much of anything correctly, is beyond repair.
Agree with that entirely.

And you forgot how Jon nailed Blood Money to sound exactly like he did live in '93.

I too am surprised by the amount of votes for 'Lost Highway'.

This board was going insane during the European leg of that tour.

Europe 2008 and Europe 2011 is in a close tie of the best tour of the 2000s. Jon sounded great on both rounds, the band was killer, the setlists looked really good and the band changed it up so it kept being interesting through the entire tour.

2008 Europe (selection of rare songs): Die 4 You, Wild in the Streets, Never Say Goodbye, Livin, In Sin, Wild is the Wind, Stick To Your Guns, Blood Money, I Believe, Dry County, Hey God, This Ain't a Love Song, These Days, Lie To Me, Damned, Diamond Ring, Older, One Wild Night, Undivided, Joey, Missunderstood, Complicated, Last Cigarette, Radio, Garageland, Drift Away, Here Comes the Sun etc.

That's a pretty nice selection of songs. Loads of them not being played for years.

2011 Europe (selection of rare songs): Get Ready, Die 4 You, Wild in the Streets, Never Say Goodbye, Livin' in Sin, Wild is the Wind, Love For Sale, Santa Fe, I Believe, Dry County, Hey God, Something For the Pain, This Ain't a Love Song, These Days, Lie To Me, Damned, Letting You Go, Something To Believe In, Diamond Ring, Older, Undivided, Bounce, Garageland, Miss 4th of July, Bells of Freedom, Any Other Day

A lot of songs from Europe 2008, but still a nice evolution. Those summers were great times to be Jovi fans. Oh boy, wonder if Bon Jovi ever will work themselves back up to that standard again.

Don't think there was particularly anything wrong with the LH tour.... heck I got "I Believe" at Twickenham and it hadn't been played for a while before then.

HAND tour was probably the worst - watched a clip of the first Milton Keynes show on that tour on youtube last night. Richie was a complete mess.....

Yeah must have been the HAND tour indeed. Richie was a mess, Jon sounded like shit. The TLFR versions of songs.

I agree, dunno quite how Richie got through that tour but I always have a soft spot for HAND era. HEaring DC at Dusseldorf for the first time and 11 years since it was played was a really special moment. Living in sin at MK1 (ok not the bst performance but still great at the time), Croke Park and Munich shows were awesome.

I can't really think of a "worst tour". I'd maybe say Bounce was my least fave, one of the few who thinks HP is overated from that year. Glasgow and Wolverhampton were totally forgettable too.

It's hard think of a single worst tour, taking in consideration many factors that would

Setlist wise: KTF Tour. (The setlist was basically the same night after night!!)

Jon wise: HAND Tour. (Very bad vocals, HULL!!)

Richie wise: HAND Tour (Arm injury, and it was the inflection point where he became a bit uninterested)

Band's stability wise: BWC Tour. (Do I have to say more?)

In general I'd stick HAND tour. At least now Jon is trying.

Have we had any indication when/where tour ends? Is it in Australia (December) or will he push into 2014?

Bounce for sure. Jon's voice was shagged.

Watch These Days, Bounce any song really, from Hyde Park.

To say he sounded like a cat being strangled does a disservice to cat stranglers.
