For me, they performed brilliantly but just one or maybe two songs could have easily made a big difference.
Surely the band could realise that about 3 quarters of the audience have seen performances of these songs many times before and that we would love it if we could just hear something different for a change. How would that affect them in a bad way? Surely it'd be a good thing for them, who knows?
exactly... Even if when putting together a basic set they say, "well we'll bring back Let It Rock, Wild is the Wind, and Shot through the Heart, instead of Just Older, In there arms, and Sleep When I'm dead". They keep in the big hits, but are revolving the set around, bringing in new songs.... They took the roof off last tour with Raise your hands because it was new, and it was brought back. They should do this more so, and on every tour. It would litterally take them a day to reherse them, and keep them in every set so every fan sees something differt

Yeah, swapping a few songs around would do the business. Or even saying, right we'll keep the set list but add, Homebound Train, Blood On Blood and Dry County as the final encore, it's only going to make the set a bit longer. Ok, if Homebound Train and DC are too long then do something with them. They're a rock band aren't they? They're aloud to chop and change sets and songs to whatever suits.

doing HBT and DC instead of captain crash and I got the girl would ad probably 10mins max to the set, so they could have done it at both of the concerts I saw and still been within the curfew.

and where were the fireworks?? The last tour did have more energy it has to be said... maybe Jon's annoyed that Bounce has been a bit of a flop, which is no wonder with songs like "Joey" that he so kindly played at Glasgow..oops did I say that... here come the quotes and insults. :P

Ok, so we are talking now. These people who post time after time saying 'Just let the band play what they want to play and stop critising' are really way off the mark.

What I was trying to say was that I cant understand the thought process behind the set lists. The other band I really love is Counting Crows - the difference between them and Jovi live is amazing. You never know what you are going to get at a Crows show. I have seen them 8 times in the UK and each time has been totally different. Unlike Bon Jovi they are not afriad to play their earlier songs, they play 10 minute versions of album songs and you never hear the lead singer say the same thing twice.

This is what BJ used to be like up until the Crush tour. I have fantastic memories of These Days and Faith tours but since then we get this party rock band who seem to have disowned their more serious, thoughtful songs and who I think have a low opinion of their fans and what they want. We get a cliched stadium rock show that never changes in stlye and content from one show to the next.

What we have here folks is essentially the Rolling Stones and other 'corporate' bands of that ilk.

I saw U2 on their last tour and am not even really a massive fan but they gave something back to the fans in terms of songs picked to play and chat had with the crowd that it blew the last few Jovi tours out of the water.

Having seen the band 14 times, bought every thing released since 1986, have nearly 100 bootlegs and VCD's they band currently disappoint me live. And that is only because I think they could be so much more than they are at the moment. They have stopped being musicians and are simply entertainers at the moment. If that does it for you, then good luck - but me? pah! I want much more than that

Do you think that this 'party rock' atmosphere, as jamesd says, is maybe because of the sucess of Crush in the UK. The fact that Crush is a more pop-rock album may lead Bon Jovi to believe, 'Hey, Crush was a huge sucess maybe the party-pop-rock thing will go down well'. I don't really know how they would plan the set lists but you are right, this atmosphere may be causing Bon Jovi to put out the party songs, ie, Sleep When I'm Dead etc etc, in the same order and finishing the night with Shout. Ok, Sleep is a great song but you know it's gonna come and you know how it's gonna be played.

i think it's complacency. they don't have to play anything special, so why should they? all it takes, as Mc Rock said, is a one or two songs to make it different from another night. and for those rough old slags with more tattoos than skin, who just come to watch jon in tight pants and only sing prayer, well they can just get another beer when dry county comes on. (10mins is probably about how long it would take to get served there)

at least you heard a really good version of Keep the Faith... Jon just went into "I've been walking in the footsteps" straight after the guitar solo the shows I was at

I'd gladly endure a Joey for some screams in Keep the faith!
