Theory of crapitivity?

Does anybody think that the reaction of the crowd in a BJ concert is related to how vibrant and exciting the city itself is?

I heard Buffalo was an unfavourable concert, and that isn't exactly the Venice of NY. Huddersfield was bad 2 years ago and that is also a dump. I am willing to bet Wolverhampton will be bad this year too. Can anybody clarify whether Stoke was good during the Crush tour? or has anybody else been to a bad show that happened to be in a 'bad' city?

Obviously I am talking in general terms, there are sure to be some good concerts in some sh1t cities. Probably.

The audience in America is most of the time quite poor. I heard this from several people who were there and even musicians who come to Europe for the first time are totally exited about the European audience.

In America it can happen that people are moaning when you stand up and sing along.

i would say the atmosphere at th concert is more to with tits like you! having a downer on a venue before you even been there!

the greatest bj show i've attended was in the worst place: "wels" a 50,000 or less "city" during the td tour. but the audience was roaring from the first to the last song and the band had quite a lots of fun- jon was ****ing astonished about the - for european measures- small crowd of "only" 36,000 and every 2nd sentence was "such a small stain o' people and so ****ing loud"
i think it depends on the mood of the band and on the reaction of the crowd...

Is it possibe that a majority of the Buffalo crowd was there to see the Goo Goo Dolls rather than BJ? That is their hometown. Perhaps in that particular venue BJ was not playing to their own audience. Just a thought.

I think the audience does make a difference. I know Jon will change a setlist dependent on the audience reactions to certain songs. If they pull out "Never Say Goodbye" at the end you know you've been a good audience. If they pull out "Always" (if it wasn't already on the list) you know he feels like the crowd isn't into it. I was at the show they proclaim to be the worst of their career--Knoxville 1993. Of course, I can't tell you much about the crowd because I was in the 2nd row. LOL However, looking back, I can imagine it probably was a pretty rotten crowd. I was able to move about, and that close to the front, that really isn't normal. I really don't stick around any city long enough to guage whether the audience is truly reflective of that city.

I totally agree. The Goos played a crappy gig in Atlanta, but the crowd wasn't really into them. (most of the crowd was still getting through security). In Tampa, they were a totally different band. Bon Jovi was good in both places, but Tampa's crowd was a lot louder and more into the show. Most of us even stayed standing during Right Side of Wrong. And as a reward, we got to hear "Never Say Goodbye". As for which city is better.........Tampa and Atlanta are both pretty nice cities in my opinion. Although, I think Tampa is a little better, but I may be prejudiced there.
