Default They should try Born To Follow Acoustic

Seems like many people here are not big fans of We Weren't Born To Follow. I actually like the song. Maybe it'll be different when I see it live, but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't seem to have as much juice as it does on the record. I loved the acoustic version they did on Inside The Actor's Studio. Might be nice to see this version included when they play the acoustic set out on the circle ramp.

I prefer the electric version because it fit's more with the uplifting theme of the song. When they did the slow version of it's my life it was good because it had a meaning but putting a slow piano traco to WWBTF doesn't work when you listen to lyrics. It's hard to buy the lyrics "you gotts hold onto what you believe" when it's delivered in a mellow and slow manner like the acoustic.

While I agree with what Matrix said before me, I think Born To Follow should be more frequently performed in acoustic way because of 2 reasons:
1) They have enough of similiar "near to opening" must-play songs, the most obvious, off course, being Born To Be My Baby. Playing the acoustic version in shows would give this song a new and different spot in setlists thus separating it from My Baby.
2) They already did an acoustic version and to me, it was better than all the electric live versions they ever did. Check out:
For me, the vocals sound much better in an acoustic way, that's the reason why I don't like the performances of the electric version, cause unfortunately, the band doesn't give a good back vocals to Jon - at least, not as good as on the record.

Yeah, I agree with you. I just don't think the song really works live in an electric form. It's definitely been getting better and I'll be interested to experience it personally but the acoustic version is much better. It would make a nice addition to the acoustic set, only problem is I don't think it would sound too good with David playing it on an accordian.

Good point. I realized this after I posted. Maybe David would need to stay on stage.

I know that the quality of the electric one lacks a great deal compared to the album but a slow acoustic version seems to go against the spirit and the intention of the song lyrics, it removes any uplifting quality whatsoever. I know it sounds nice to the ears, just like Hallelujah does, because Jon can sing those long slow things well. So I guess it depends what you're looking for listenability or the songs message. Tbh, I guess the message of WWBTF isn't very deep anyway.

I agree with you. I like the song in both ways, electric and accoustic, but the accoustic sounds better to me.

Instead of making Saturday Night accoustic, they should do Born To Follow and do the original version of Saturday Night.

But WWBTF is a single of the current touring album, If I'd like the album or the song and go to the show to watch them (casual fan) I would want the original version.

I understand this and I have to agree. My first thought was I'd love for them to move it to the acoustic section since I liked what I heard from Inside the Actors Studio...but I've actually seen it performed so I can say that. Perhaps they will do this later when more people have had a chance to hear/see it. Particularly when Jon reaches the point of overhaul as he generally does for the bigger stadium shows in their largest fanbase markets. They did drop Last Man Standing and HAND, so it's not out of the realm.

Acoustic would be a good way to revisit it on the next tour without rehasing the original song, if they keep performing it that is.

Exactly.
I for one don't think it will stay in the setlists though
