I think the MSG DVD performance is a bit better than normal because there is at least a bit of energy in it (since they knew they were being filmed). Normally they play it with less enthusiasm.

i agree that '80 performance are completly different: more energy, more anger.

the big problem is richie: his chorus are now very poor. Jon sounds similar today. Richie sings half chorus compared tour '95,'00, etc

Jon sounds nowhere as good as in 95. That statement makes me believe you're deaf :/

Richie plays the song too slow, no doubt. But Jon's nasally whispering of the song is abysmal. He sounds like a teenage girl with a cold.

Now, with that being said, I think Jon sounds pretty damn good on most other songs performed. But the older ones sound like ass. With Prayer it doesn't matter because the crowd sings over him anyway. With Wanted, he doesn't sing the song half the time - Leaves it for Richie or the crowd. Runaway has been crap since 2000, though wasn't half bad when performed acoustically. Raise Your Hands has always been awful live.

That isn't a live performance, thats a TV performance.

You can't do that for the Telly show, your paid to sing not entertain.

Personally I think thisa very good version and rocks, and this was from the end of their last tour not a TV show so not sure what your point is?

These topics are always the same... Jon losthis voice in 2000, then in 2002, then in 2005, then in 2007... Pathetic. He didnt lost it, still has it, but he just doesnt use it sometimes... Thats the problem.

Look, I'm no different than a lot of other people on this board, but not everyone has seen this band in the 80's and early 90's. I assure you, having seen them on every tour since 1987, Jon's voice is NOT the same.

As I have said, his voice isn't necessarily bad, but when it comes to certain songs, he simply should forget it. He can no longer sing Bad Name the way it should be sung. Period.
