Keeps them big?

Yeah - They wouldn't still be around if it wasn't for Bad Name.

LOL.

I wish the band would still do instrumentals and "big" versions of songs; for example Blood on Blood with that nice keyboard intro and all the extra bits like at the Moscow festival, Lay Your hands on me with the added intro/instrumental in the middle

It broke them in the US too. Doesn't mean it still needs to be played. Always was a bigger single than Bad Name, and they hardly ever play that anymore.

As for it being a reason for a casual fan to buy a ticket to the next tour, that is a load of crap. There are plenty of other songs the casual fan will be happy to hear - Prayer, Wanted, Bad Medicine, It's My Life, I'll Be There For You, Who Says..., Always.

This sounds weird but I have to kind of agree with gazthomas on this one. The casuals really want and expect this song to be played. When the band goes into it you can clearly hear the raor of the crowd. Maybe the reason they don't try harder with it is that it's such an easy crowd pleaser but heh......

bad name has input from the crowd, a good riff, booming chorus. all in all a good rock song. however i will agree its deliverance is poor but still it is a theme tune to the bands career.

In a way, Bad Name is THE Bon Jovi song for many. By the time they got big in 86-87, this was the song everybody was talking about. Bad Name was the reason they got recognized in the first place, no matter how big the next single release (Prayer) was.
And it is as much eighties as you can possibly get.
