There's a great acousitc version of the song from the Minnesota Bounce Tour show.
They could easily pull that one of, and while not as much power as the original, it's still damn good IMO.

he sang the song in Munich 2003 in the original version...it sounded pretty good even though he had voice problems especially during the German leg of the tour.
i don't think he could hold the last note as long as back in '96 but the rest should definately be possible...

I don't see why he couldn't try TBH, but I don't want his voice getting hammered.

I recall Jon saying somewhere, can't remember where, that he didn't like playing STBI live because it was one of those songs that they had just never been able to get quite right live. AOD is turning out to be one of those as well it seems. The record version is fabulous but live it never seems quite right. These days I don't think it's Jon's voice keeping them from playing anything.

Aloha !

That video on youtube is the only performance of the song that tour on which he sounded dreadfull. He nailed the song on all other performances and it was played 7 times that tour.

It even sounded great with Jon's 2003 vocals. So yes, I think he can do it justice live again. And I'm pretty certain that Jon has never said anything about Something To Believe In. He's always been very fond of the song and it certainly works in Europe.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

It sounded good enough in 2003, so I'm pretty sure he could do it now if he went for it. In 2001 "Always" sounded like its time was over and he shouldn't ever sing it again without ruining the song, and look what he made of it in 2008. Same goes for STBI - though the long high note wouldn't be the same as 1996. Much like the scream in IBTFY...

If he can hit the notes now in Always he can sing STBI, sure he won't nail the scream but that doesn't ruin the song. I would love to hear this song again.

I didn't say he didn't like the song Seb, but he did comment that the reason that they don't play it live very often is that he's never felt they get it quite right live and TBH I haven't heard a really great version of AOD live yet, it's good but it's never quite just right.

Took the words right out of my mouth......the highest note live in STBI is the B below top C which is the same as 'Prayer before the solo which Jon sometimes nails but other times struggles. Suppose it depends on the night. I think it might be saved for Twickers second night........who knows.
