Funny, isn't it? I've noticed the same thing.

It strikes me as kind of funny, or maybe a bit ironic. Here in the US no one blinks or thinks twice about paying huge dollars to go see their sports teams, but they sure do bitch about having to pay to see a band.
Um, people ALWAYS bitch about the prices of sports tickets, especially up here in NY.

No you haven't. You don't live in the US, what would you know about people in the US not bitching about the prices they pay for a sports ticket?

Salaam Aleikum,

Please, inform me which team you follow where there is no bitching about ticket prices because I want to become a fan. Fortunately for me, I know I can remain a Philly sports fan because there isn't one.

In fact, I have first hand knowledge because I work for college sports teams and pricing issues exist even at that level.

The shear ignorance I have seen from people on this board lately outside of America on American sports is appalling between this thread and some of the comments on the This Is Our House song thread.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan and there is bitching but still buying. The secondary market is pretty much the ONLY way to get a ticket to a game so it sucks!!

Almost all football teams are that way with the exception of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Minnesota Vikings who can't sell out their stadiums. Otherwise, there's tons of bitching but sold out games.

Yep, Alana, very true. Seems the NFL, even with increasing ticket prices, is NOT effected at all by the econonmy. Folks always find the money to support their favorite team.

It isn't limited to the NFL either. The last time the University of Nebraska failed to sellout Memorial Stadium for a football game was the season BEFORE I was born.

I am a HUGE Vikings fan, and they have been selling out games quite frequently lately, especially with Favre. But now Favre is gone. F**k him.

Both me and my dad have the same idea though. The secondary market (in particular eBay) is one of the only ways to get tickets to anything these days. There will be people in Japan buying (who aren't even fans) 50 Bon Jovi tickets for a show in New York, and then they go sell them on eBay.

I am also a HUGE Minnesota Twins fan, and they just opened a new stadium this year. We have managed to get to one game, and we payed $50 a ticket for STANDING ROOM ONLY tickets. We didn't even get a freakin seat! Granted, we barely would've been sitting anyway, because we were exploring.
