Default Ticket Prices in USA

I know a lot of people are complaining that ticket prices are too high in the USA, but I think they're in line with other artists. I just bought a ticket to see Big and Rich who happen to be opening for Gretchen Wilson in Jackson and the ticket was $99 before the Ticketmaster charges. Jovi tickets I've looked into have been around $86 before TM charges. GW just released her 2nd CD. She's had about 5 singles. B&R haven't even released their 2nd CD yet. So they can't even use history as justification for ticket costs.

Well in US dollars, before ticketmaster charges, my ticket for Manchester here would be around $78 (gold circle) and the regular tickets would be around $61. I know that ticket prices go up constantly, but so does the price of everything. I feel that what I paid is a fair price for a few hours of entertainment (though the ticketmaster charge and postage cost seemed rather stupid).

As a matter of fact Bon Jovi tickets can be had at the bottom of the madness ladder. Two years ago when I saw Simon and Garfunkel (at Continental Arene and Madison Square Garden) I paid $250.00 per ticket at Ticketmaster. This was the same two years ago that I was paying $75.00 per ticket for Springsteen or Bon Jovi. I know that Paul Mc Cartney tickets were also going for $250.00 per ticket. So - Bon Jovi tickets sound like a bagain in that company

I wouldn't care if Bon Jovi did something like Pearl Jam did, and not go through Ticketbastard. It's them that I hate. $10.25 for a service charge - PER TICKET! WTF is that?

Then there's no guarantee on good venues. Until Bon Jovi really sell out, it'll be Ticketmaster for the foreseeable future.

The TM charges are what's ridiculous. I paid $86 for a BJ ticket and with the service charge it was over $101. $15 for what?

My experience with going to a TM outlet to avoid alot of service charges over the internet is that the person working the counter WILL NOT look any further than the first "round" of searching for tix. They say "its best available" and thats it. When you do it yourself over the internet, you can keep trying and something better usually comes up. Its just that TM have so many fees - three tickets that should've cost $262.50 ended up costing me $315.00. - ALL FEES.
