Default Ticket Touts

What's the official line on ticket touts outside venues? Is it legal or not? I recall seeing loads outside Wembley Park station at the Foo Fighters gig walking around with big wads of tickets in their hands and they were being as bold as you like...the police did nothing. But when the gates opened the police suddenly intervened and put a stop to it.

And how come they get their hands on so many tickets, especially for sold out events?

I dont think its legal, maybe frowned upon, you see them every show you go to,

when i saw them at southampton i thought it was really funny, as they had stacks of tickets but the show wasnt sold out so im sure they ended up losing loads of cash, i cannot believe anybody would have bought them as you could have them booked them through official channels.

I can kind of understand using a tout if show is sold out and this is only way of getting a ticket but i believe most uk shows are still selling tickets so they may have a bad few weeks

I've only used them once and that was for the Jovi charity gig at Hammersmith Odeon years ago. I don't go near them now because some of them look pretty mean!

For milton keynes 2006 they were selling gc tickets for between £20-40 on the day... So sometimes it doesn't work out very well what they actually do! Alot of them do touting as there day to day job.

it's only illegal when the ticket is sold over the face value.

They probably bought them for £10-£20, though. My mum was due to come with us yesterday but decided against it in the end (daft cow) so I picked up her ticket from the box office and some guy gave me £15 for it. The way I see it, somebody's gonna get a ticket for £20-£30 and I didn't have the time to sell it. If I'd have thought he was gonna make £100 on it, I'd have just kept the thing.

Yeah, so I ended up having to sell my 3 spare Gold Circle tickets (due to people dropping out) for like £30 each, when they cost me about £80 each

i once paid £45 for a £15 Pantera ticket !
but as you say -if the gig isnt sold out in its entirity the touts will lose out and to get rid of them sell them cheaper than ticketmaster.

If anyone fancies selling a couple of GC tickets for Twickers night 1 for below face value, I'll gladly take them and rest assured I'm not a tout. I've simply been ripped off for over £500 worth of tickets for that show and if anyone is contemplating letting a couple of tix go to touts for a snippet of the RRP, I'll gladly take em off you instead and that way I'll actually get to enjoy the show afterall.
