Born To Follow must be the most pointless song for Jon to play guitar on. Runaway rocked much more during the days when he ran around the stage without a guitar. I think he enjoys to play guitar very much, that's why he takes every chance to play it live.

I must've got the wrong memo. Here was me thinking that the sound was what made a band good.

In other words, we're back to the guitar as an accessory.

Hmm. I guess I've run myself into a circle.

LOL Don't worry, hanging out here does that to all of us at one time or another!

I think it's happened to everybody a few times!

For me, it's about the energy. Sure, Jon may put the same amount of energy in on a song with his acoustic, but for me, the energy doesn't seem to convey to the audience as well as when he plays an electric guitar or no guitar at all.

The visual thing for me is only on These Days. On WWBTF, there would be much more energy with no guitar, and we know that the song will still sound good without a guitar. And on Last Man Standing and Radio Saved My Life 2nite, the sound could be improved by quite a bit if it were on electric guitar.

Now that I read the rest of my post, These Days goes with the rest with the energy thing.

Since you live in the U.S., you don't have to worry about ever witnessing These Days live (unless you leave North America, of course). Yes, that's bitterness you hear in my typing. I'm having trouble with the concept of "vanilla" today. Hopefully I'll be over it by Saturday, since I'm expecting a nice bowl of it.

You know...I actually think it looks cool when Jon has his acoustic and he's strumming/singing.

In terms of sound, though, it doesn't really add much. You can hear it if you REALLY try to hear it, but sometimes it's just not necessary. One thing I am surprised about on this tour is that he isn't using an acoustic guitar for 'Work For The Working Man'.
