Right! This is what my husband is always saying when we are discussing music in the present world.
In the 80s and early 90s, when we were teenager and very young concert goers we enjoyed the shows and their atmosphere. We did not care about the vocal capabilities of the singer, did not analyze his abilities to hit the high notes; it was so much noise and confusion all around and there was all this ecstatic atmosphere that all those technical details escaped unnoticed.
The same about details of choreography - whether the singer is jumping or running or only walking, or walking with the guitar - nobody really paid attention to. The only thing that could be seen when we were standing in the crowd was that someone on the stage is MOVING (no matter in what way

)
Now, the concerts are experienced in the same way. But the concert goers then come back home and upload/download/ analyse you tube videos and discuss on message boards all the technicalities and minute details.
I think it kills the confidence of all groups. BJ are only a bit distracted and nervous; other, less confident groups absolutely lose their selfesteem and are not infrequently on the verge of giving up
