Even if that were true it's because Bon Jovi refuses to play in smaller venues, hence them not selling them out anymore, hence them adjusting the numbers after they've played somewhere simply to claim they sold it out.

They used to play in more than 4 stadiums in Japan, yet now struggle to sell out 2. They played in b-stadiums in Spain because they can't sell out the bigger venues there like the Stones, U2, AC/DC and even Muse did. When the Stones toured Spain twice in 5 years they played in front of at least 200.000 people. Bon Jovi played in front of 100.000 people at most. It's still a lot of people, but far from the amount of people they claim to play for on a regular basis.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

japanese statistics is for the whole world,no matter if they sold out or not, they play more stadium shows then anybody else, also they tour more then anybody else in last decade, maybe that is the main reason they dont have full and bigger stadiums on the tour, but they rock every show, they have variety in the songs,U2 and Stones don't have that kind of thing, they are boring and soft!

I'm not gonna get into the dick measuring but whether the numbers give you a hard on or not Jovi are important to the industry wherever they go. Live is stagnating at the moment everywhere - in the UK last year it would have shrunk if it weren't for the O2 residency as one of the largest events, and this year Edinburgh/Manchester/London/Bristol are expected to again help prop it up alongside the TT tour. Whether they sell those stadiums out or not the figure that really matters to anyone who's not blinded by world-record-envy is the $$ and those stadium shows make ridiculous amounts, much more than your average arena show whether they sell out or not.

Does Jon inflate figures? probably. so does everyone. it's the music industry not tax collection. it lives and breathes on egos and ass kissing - get over it.

Why do we have to keep trying to prove that Bon Jovi are the biggest band ever. THEY'RE NOT. Get over it. They're still a huge band, be happy with that.

today you can't tell who is the biggest, but also you can't compare bands like U2 or Stones or Jovi, they all important, they all have + and -,but don't make Jovi small because some stadiums are not sold out 100%!

You were just doing that in your previous post on this page.

Bon Jovi went on tour 5 times between 2000 and 2010. U2 toured 3 times there, the Stones toured twice there. Bon Jovi have over-saturated the market in the last decade. A break is a good thing for them.

I agree with you, break is good, only three years they didn't tour are 2002,2004 and 2009,they need a break, but you must ask yourself -can U2 and Stones tour so much often like Jovi? I think they can't! but really Jovi need to rest at least 3 years and more!

They could if they wanted to, but they choose not to. Bon Jovi struggled earlier this decade too, after their monumental comeback. The Stones and U2 have both sold more records, and haven't oversaturated their markets recently, which is why people keep going to see them. Their keeping themselves fresh.

Aloha !

No one in this topic said Bon Jovi are small, don't twist words here.

Ahem;

U2 played, in a period of 9 years (2001-2010) 111 shows in Europe.
The Rolling Stones played, in a period of 3 years (2003-2006) 94 shos in Europe.

Bon Jovi played, in a period of 11 years (2000-2011) 115 shows in Europe.

Now we all know Jon put a limit on the number of shows he wanted to do abroad, however, he also refused to play at places U2 and the Stones did simply because promoters wouldn't book them in a venue just as big as theirs because they knew they couldn't sell half the amount of tickets. Add to this that the Stones played in stadiums twice the size Bon Jovi plays in, it should be clear that Bon Jovi are not as big as they claim they are.

What it boils down to is that Jon and his issues of always being overlooked are starting to show up by them needing to adjust numbers in order to be able to say that they sold out every show. I follow other bands around simply because I'm interested in the logistics behind such a thing, and I can assure you that U2 doesn't claim that every show is sold out, simply by adjusting the numbers. All this bragging that Jon does about numbers would make sense if it was true but sadly it isn't. It's his behaviour of overcompensating of his own shortcomings by making everything bigger than it actually is.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
