Bon Jovi went on tour 5 times between 2000 and 2010. U2 toured 3 times there, the Stones toured twice there. Bon Jovi have over-saturated the market in the last decade. A break is a good thing for them.
Just because they had 5 tours since 2000 does not mean that they have oversatured the individual markets. Aside from Germany, Austria, England, maybe Japan and some US East Coast cities Bon Jovi do not hit any market more frequently than U2 or the Stones. Moreover, the Stones and U2 have played much bigger stadiums anyway... we're talking about a whole different level of touring...U2 recently played Camp Nou, San Siro, Estadio Azteca, Estadio Morumbi, Stade de France, Croke Park [...], each of which multiple times in 360° configuration. That's something Bon Jovi will never be able to do.

that numbers don't impress me at all,I'm bon jovi fan,I love U2 also but not that much like Jovi,I don't like Stones, they are joke today, like I said before they with U2 hide music faults with giant stages and visual effects, specially U2,and we all know that U2 play pop-rock and because of that attract more people,U2 sold more records but they have 2 albums ahead of Jovi, but like I said-they are pop-rock,you can hear U2 in the supermarket, not Jovi, people go to see 4 old men and their giant stage,no one is happy with their performance, people go to see giant claw and talk about that after concert, people go to see Jovi and get rocked by them, talk about music, songs, amazing performance,2,5 or 3 hour sets, you don't get that from U2 or Stones!

You're seeing things thru Bon Jovi coloured glasses. U2 are bad, Bon Jovi are good, thus their numbers don't attract you, thus Bon Jovi are bigger. That's not making any sense. You're saying U2 are a pop-rock band, but it's not like Bon Jovi haven't tried to attract more people to their music. Bon Jovi has gone further adrift of their original course than U2 have, though I doubt you'll see it this way as your only way of seeing things is "BON JOVI ROCK THUS THEYRE BIGGER" which leads to the decision of ignoring what you're saying anyway from now on.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I don't like when people on this forum compare Jovi with only two bands worth to compare with them when touring is about,I also don't claim Jovi is bigger but I don't accept that other two bands are bigger than Jovi, playing on the bigger or smaller stadiums don't mean that someone is bigger,Jovi attract new fans with almost same music like before,I listen Jovi since 1994,when I was 14,and I find always something new about them,I never judge why don't they do this or that etc.I always support them, and this year in Zagreb was my first Jovi concert, hope not the last! Seb,I don't have anything against you or your opinions about Jovi, but complains here about a lot of things are joke, you can't change anything and you're still complaing!

For the record, that's an appalling comparison. From those numbers you're insinuating that the stones played 350 shows in the last 11 years in europe and U2 about 135 if they're going to be at all relevant. It proves that the stones did one massive stint in europe and that's about it...

They are also all at different points in their career - everyone thinks of U2 and Jovi being similar for some reason but U2 are nearly a decade older as a band and the Stones have been going since the early 60s. It's a false comparison to start with. Just because Jon does it doesn't excuse you guys

U2 play pop-rock and Bon Jovi don't? Bon Jovi also produce mainstream crap since 2000 to get played in supermarkets, elevators and in the radio between the traffic news and the weather forecast.. It's beyond ridiculous for a Bon Jovi fan to claim U2 were mainstream pop-rock crap and BJ weren't. Anyway, I have been to a few U2 360 shows and was blown away each time, and actually I have seen NO ONE who was "unhappy with their performance" or just went there because of the stage. That's just another stupid excuse to downplay U2's success along with the even more ridiculous claim that there was a conspiracy involving the media and critics and them being responsible for U2 selling more albums and tickets LOL.
I doubt you have already seen U2 live or even know any other song than the Joshua Tree singles, Beautiful Day and One...

Slightly off topic, I bought How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb when it came out... I was very disappointed with the contents - had it been an emergency situation I would have had a major international incident on my hands...

I've seen them 1997 in Sarajevo, once, but I know enough to judge between them and Jovi, and Joshua tree and Achtung baby are two best albums of U2,I don't know how older you but I think you don't have a clue about U2 and Jovi!

I like Bon Jovi better, but U2 and the Stones have both sold more records than Bon Jovi have, and both have had bigger tours in their past. Look at the highest grossing tours of all time. 6 of the top 10 are by U2 and the Stones. Bon Jovi barely cracks the top 20.

I think people compare Bon Jovi to U2 because they both had massive success in the late 80's, which then carried on into the 90's, and then had a massive comeback in 2000. They are also both known for being great live. It's become only natural to compare them.
