Lloyds and Walkabout are not to far away

To get to this hotel you need to get the DLR direction to Beckton, so a tube stop or area where you can get on the DLR later. Maybe Canary Wharf? Not sure if National Express stops in Canary Wharf, I know it stops in Stratford (when I go to and from Stansted airport I use the coach) and from Stratford you can combine DLRs too.

Check very well how you will get to the O2 from there, I assume by bus as I don't think there is another direct way, maybe the fastferry/watertaxi but don't think it has a stop there.

Theres a pub outside the arena about 15mins walkaway... Inside the o2 itself there are bars and resturants etc... Frankie and Bennys, I think I saw a Slug and Lettuce in there, if those type are in your price range. The pub about 15mins away was decent enough when we all met up in 2007, can't remember the name though.

this is my problem .... I have to now get back on the same day for work the next day arg.... not sure if I will be able to make it , thinking of selling my ticket and rebuying on another day that I can stay over night and travel back the same day.

I'm catching the last train back from Waterloo to Portsmouth as I have work the next day apart from the 7th/8th.. I'll still be catching the train back home, its cheaper...
Tube takes about 20-25mins from o2 to Waterloo and Waterloo being a main station has connections to central London.
