Default U2 tix in Australia starting at$39

This is the same venue that BJ are playing at. Makes Jons/promoters ticket price excuses look pretty stupid now..

This article is from todays Melbourne Herald Sun paper

SUPERSTAR band U2 is bringing the world's biggest-ever rock show to Melbourne in December.

The 360 Degrees tour eclipses every stadium show to date, including major spectacles by Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi.

U2 will perform at Etihad Stadium on December 1. Tickets go on sale on September 3 from Ticketmaster. They will start from as little as $39.

The band - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr - announced Australian tour dates in Helsinki, Finland.on Saturday.

Other Aussie dates are Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, December 8, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, December 13, Subiaco Oval, Perth, December 18. The centrepiece of 360 Degrees is an imposing 57m-high bug-like spaceship on four legs called The Claw.

In Melbourne, The Claw will jut out of Docklands Stadium and be clearly visible from the city.

Permits are being sought to leave the roof open on show night for The Claw.

The numbers surrounding the tour are staggering. It takes 120 trucks to cart, and 157 production crew to build the 360 Degrees show.

It costs a reported $750,000 a day to keep the show on the road and The Claw is five times heavier than U2's last stage, double the size of the set for the Rolling Stones' tour A Bigger Bang.

It carries 600 tonnes of cutting-edge sound and light equipment, and an expanding video screen.

U2 will bring four separate stage systems, costing $28 million each, to be built simultaneously in each Australian city over a 10-day period.

"U2 has always been at their best when surrounded by their audience," U2 manager Paul McGuinness said.

Guitarist The Edge said at the launch: "Where we're taking our production will never have been seen before by anybody and that's an amazing thing to be able to say.

"For a band like U2, which really thrives on breaking new ground, it's a real thrill."

The set list includes hits Beautiful Day, With Or Without You, New Year's Day, Pride (In The Name Of Love) and Where The Streets Have No Name.

U2 was forced to postpone the tour when lead singer Bono suffered a back injury in March. The band resumed the tour last month.

Tut tut tut.....

Poor Bono could do with a bit more money to fix his back too, but no, he thinks about the fans first and his disability second. Thank god good men like The Bono still exist

Shame onto you Jon, you money grabbing blonde bitch of a man

I 'knew' there was a reason I 'passed' on BJ this time ...one way or the other, I WILL be there

U2 deserve a ticket price for $40 and BJ deserve for $60. U2 are full of shit of that stupid space stage and there is nothing about rock n roll. U2 concert are 2h long with a same setlist every night so.....and give me a break with that stupid speaches of Bono who thinks that he is a pope. I saw both but Jovi are million miles better! I would rather paid 100 dollars for Jovi than 50 for that media favorite U2 band!
Yesterday a bought a dvd's of U2(360) and Springsteen (Hyde park) and i have to tell you, that U2 dvd suck big time.

Thats your perspective, a die hard U2 fan will say the same stuff about Bon Jovi that they suck. As Bon jovi fans are passionate about the band same are U2 fans and most U2 fans are happy with the shows presented by the band
including new songs being presented this tour
They still no 2 touring band in the world after Rolling Stones and have been selling stadiums and arenas in record number
Just look at FORBES and Billboard data

It's not about "Well I like X band and hate Y band, therefore X has the right to charge more". Bon Jovi and U2 are playing the same venues. They share a similar status if not the same style. The fact that one can charge $40AU and the other would never entertain the idea of charging less than $100AU proves (if there was ever any doubt) that there is absolutely nothing driving high concert prices but greed.

I'm pretty sure that when Bon Jovi arrives to Europe next year the ticket prices won't be over 100e. About 60 to 90 euros... Inside the circle -tickets maybe 99e or something....
On Lost Highway -tour in Finland tickets were 59 to 89 euros if i remember correctly. It's much easier here than for example in USA. There are only three or four different price tickets here.... We haven't even heard anything about those tickets that can cost you nearly 1000 euros. That would never happen here. No one would ever pay several hundreds of euros to see any band here in Finland, no one....
Well maybe someone.
When Madonna was here few years ago doing some arena show, the most expensive tickets were 200 euros and that was something to laugh at here...
Since then there have been no shows with nearly as expensive tickets here in Finland.
