I only like U2 early stuff but from what I can tell U2 are on the same level as BJ as in popularity... and appear to stage similar shows with the same type of entourage etc... unfortunately I see no excuse that Jovi tickets prices should be higher at the same gig ... would be interested to hear what JBJ response will be.... others will notice this.

I remember getting on these boards and arguing for weeks that we were getting ripped off by Mr JBJ.

I have waited for months to see what u2 will charge for there aussie tour.

They are bringing the biggest stage show to ever hit Australia and there ticket prices start at 39.90.Bon Jovi start at 99.00.

Now the circle or the pit or whatever you want to call it at the U2 SHOW is 250.00.For BJ it's at 1800.00.Now to all the people that were against me and to all the people that defended BJ'S puny stage show get a grip.

JBJ you greedy prick. How about you lower the prices.I know one thing, They have sold f..k all for there 3rd sydney show.No suckers for that one mr jbj.

This.
Greed will destroy BJ eventually.

Thars really commendable on U2 part since prices in Australia
are always higher than Europe and US due to logistics
reasons

Yep, I agree with you.
I also mentioned about an article in the paper here about a promoter saying that the artist/manager is fully aware of what ticket prices are. Jon cannot defend his high prices anymore.

I am not a big U2 fan but at $39 a ticket I am considering going just to see what they are like in concert.

Obviously Jon does not care about getting in new fans (which U2 will get a lot of new ones at those prices) because he knows the older fans will pay high prices to see them. Unless fans refuse to pay, he will keep those prices high.

U2 has now been billed as the biggest rock act this summer - Bon Jovi have virtually been wiped off the radar and since they are playing only 10 days before Bon Jovi I reckon there will be alot of comparisons made especially about the ticket prices.
Knowing Jon, if this U2 stuff pisses him off he may not tour down under again anyway.
A few years ago, I had heard that he got annoyed and said he would never play Telstra Dome again, so I wonder if he realizes Etihad is the same stadium, just with a new name.

I would be very reluctant to pay to see Bon Jovi again after this tour unless the prices come down to something reasonable.

JAY Z will join U2 as the very special guest for dates in New Zealand and Australia

Live Nation Global Touring and Michael Coppel have today confirmed that JAY Z will join U2 as the very special guest for dates in New Zealand and Australia. The U2 360° Tour will visit Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

With hits such as 99 Problems, Empire State of Mind and Dirt Off Your Shoulder, and ten Grammy awards, JAY Z is one of the most successful artists of all time. His last record Blueprint 3 was one of the biggest selling records of 2010, and was JAY Z’s 11th Number 1 album - putting him ahead of Elvis for most Number 1 albums by any solo artist. JAY Z last played Australia in 2006 and he has never played in New Zealand.

U2 and JAY Z performed Sunday Bloody Sunday in front of Brandenburg Gate, Berlin in November 2009.

I take it Bon Jovis support will be a local unsigned band. They have really lacked in giving people value for money on the support act front lately.

I am not sure but I wouldnt be surprised if the opening act choice was another financial move .. small bands are not getting money in the deal a huge opener does ...I am sure for example the association with kid rock was NOT free for bon jovi ....when the band support local band I have the feeling it's because it doesn't cost the band money (they don't pay the band or share the benefits )
