uk crowds are ok but from my experience those in Spain,Portugal and France are crazier,
went to see MetallicA in Lyon and they were absolutely mental .. what surprises me is that the Jovi crowds in the US (particularly the women) dress up as if they're going out for a posh meal or something, not much denim and leather on view,or band t shirts for that matter.mind you the uk seems to be going a similar way if the O2 shows are anything to go by.i much prefer metal gigs and the 'black uniform' ..

Such a fantastic moment
I was there too ...
I think it's tricky and risky subject though as it's easy to get involved with form of 'nationalist' feeling my crowd is better than yours

I am truly trying to be honest ..I had impressive audience in toronto and montreal in 2003 as well but for me european crowds were without a doubt much more 'into' the shows compared to the usa audience of the shows I went to ... (only NJ shows and only for bon jovi from 2003 to 2009)

Michael said the french are very 'mental' I confirm they *can* be IF the magic happens but it is not mandatory

I'm sure some USA crowds are awesome and some are lame (been there/done that). And I'm sure some UK/EU shows are as well (I've never been to a UK/EU show). Just depends on how the stars have lined up for that particular night. Even some performances are magical & some are cruise control.

Without a shadow of a doubt. Compare Euroleague to NBA. Compare UEFA CL to NFL. Compare Bon Jovi show in US to Bon Jovi show in Europe. Huge difference.

EDIT: Yeah, I know the topic is "US vs. UK" and not "US vs. Europe", but the same has to be said about most of European crowds.

LOL! I traveled by myself from New York to Donnington in 1992 when Iron Maiden headlined. Got there at noon, and there were already people on the ground wrapped around big white empty jugs (I don't believe bottles were allowed to be be brought into the venue). I had a fantastic time, though--I'm still grateful to how you guys made this Yank headbanger feel right at home!

I actually enjoyed being able to "dress it up" a bit for the 02 shows. Makes a change from being in the same clothes for hours due to queueing all day. Drink, dinner and a concert with my fave band!! Very civilised after memories of Glasgow for the LH tour! Wet through, freezing cold, rain jumping up a foot off the stage! Brilliant show though!!

Although it made it a more "civilised" experience being seated than GA, I still prefer GA. The atmosphere was just not the same although in the main people around me where singing along and reacting to and with the band. Very few people sitting down.

I kept hitting one of the security guards on the head when waving my arms around etc LOL I did warn her not to stand so close! She was a bit of a "jobs worth" so served her right really!!

I've not been to any US shows so my experience is based on video/dvd footage, but the audiences don't seem to get into the whole experience the same way as on this side of the pond.

This can be easily solved, can you stand up in America? No.

Can you stand up in Europe? Yes...

(And I know you can stand up from your seat in America but it's not the same)

They are pretty impressed with Australian audiences too.
In Europe are you allowed to drink alcohol inside the venue while watching the show?
I have noticed in some footage that in the US that people seem to be drinking beer.
It is not allowed here in Australia.
Really? I've been to gigs where alcohol was sold, I'm not talking about pub/club gigs either.

I've been to 5 shows in the USA now and there has been no crowd that has been awesome or even just great. Yet compared to the same American crowd even the worst European crowd is awesome.

Salaam Aleikum,
