The crowd in St. Paul, MN was so great that, during final bows, Jon decided to put his earpieces back in, and the band played Runaway AFTER Prayer (the typical show closer).

That's only happened to me once, when Rush played Radio City Music Hall in New York City. It's is a rather "posh" venue for a hard rock band, and these @sshole ushers were going around shining flashlights in people's faces and telling us to sit down. Of course, everyone was like, "F*ck YOU!" and they gave up after a while!

Can you stand up in Europe? Yes...

(And I know you can stand up from your seat in America but it's not the same)
O2 was standing up from your seat.... and it rocked...

How can they make you sit in your seat when there is that many people it just wont happen. SO the seat excuse is just an excuse...

Ive never been to a gig in US but what I find strange is Americans are not usually subtle people they like to shout and have a good time, so I would have expected the US gigs to be rockin so its interesting what Seb has said as he has had both experiences...

However Madison Square Gdn seemed the loudest I have ever heard anywhere via u tube it was deafening... but must have been a great experience...

Seb, what are the crowds doing whilst the gig is on ? The ticket prices are not cheap so you would have expected fans to be there... What is the reason you think is the cause of the difference between UK/USA ?

JBJ has previously said UK crowds know all the words as where US crowds only know the chorus would you say that was true Seb ?

I'm not going to get involved in this argument on a major level, but I will say there seems to be a major disconnect here. This should be about US BON JOVI crowds vs. EU BON JOVI crowds. US ROCK crowds can be insane, and awesome. However, in the US, Bon Jovi does not bring in a rock crowd, per say.
And FTR, we do have GA shows in the US. The GA vs. Seating debate often comes down to size of venue, and type of crowd drawn by the artist.

yes there are GA shows in north america but it's not jovi it's more pearl jam nickelback etc sort of artists
who here among the females usa fans would love ga for bon jovi as the basic show ?
Bon Jovi has an audience in north america that is more into the comfort ... the shows are constructed around an audience who is there to have fun drink and hang out with their friends sort of entertainment not as much as europe for example to listen to music (the tailgating tradition shows how much the essential is to have fun with friends and drink and laugh and eatetc)
also I noticed that many ppl in north america bring their friends or significant other to the shows- ppl not necesseraly fans - and it probably shows with the crowd reaction IMO

You can go to a jovi show in the usa just by being the escort of your girlfriend for example the result is that OFTEN the males are not much into the show on the contrary (laughing commenting stupidly getting drunk etc )
I am not sure that there are much significant others going with their girlfriends in europe ...not sure it is a major problem but I noticed that in europe the ppl going to a show are all wanting to go and not much ppl who go to be with their friends or partner....

all this may influence the audience reaction ...I think

This is pretty much dead on especially for the Bon Jovi today. They've lost most of whatever they had of the American rock audience in the last decade that would go ape shit.

I know you can buy it at the bars at the venue but I have never seen anyone take it inside to their seats.

In my opinion it's pretty much got to do with the fact you usually stand and can drink in the UK.

The gigs I've been to where I've ended up in the gods instead of GA is a totally different experience because everyone seems a lot more self conscious about getting up and having a good time whereas if you're on the floor, you're already on your feet and have space to dance and stuff.
