Just because there is a chair there, doesn't mean you have to use it. You still have the option to jump around and dance.
Mouse, first visit a European gig and then compare the chairs to an open field. I bet you prefer the open field.

Salaam Aleikum,

yes but i think that not all concerts are like that in the US. i have seen on tv rock concerts (the latest was linkin park ) from the US where people stand without chairs or something. just like the europeans concerts. has this anything to do with the bands' policy for example?

I've been to both General Admission shows and assigned seating shows. I MUCH prefer assigned seating. In general admission, I've been on the floor from 2nd row for Aerosmith, to mid floor for Motley Crue, to just sitting somewhere in the stands for Bon Jovi or Poison. General admission is dangerous. I don't know why anyone would actually like that better! If you want a good spot, you have to wait a day and a half in line. Once you get there, you can't leave to go bathroom. You're packed in like sardines. You're more likely to get crushed. I find nothing more appealing about general admission shows. I like to go to a show and know where my seat is and know that I'm not going to be crushed.

You can jump up and down just fine at a concert here. Instead of a person behind you, you may have a chair.

There's nothing stopping anyone from jumping up and down at an assigned seating show. Nor, does it feel any less like a rock concert. I've been to several shows of both types. I've been to Bon Jovi shows of both types. The assigned seating shows are better. Most people don't sit anyway!

I've always asked myself why do americans promoters fill up the fields of arenas and stadiums with chairs for the concerts?
Because they are losers that dont know how to rock, imagine the uproar if a concert was all seater in the UK / Europe

When fans file into the Firstar Center on Friday evening, it will be 20 years to the day 11 people were killed outside that building in the crush before a concert by the Who

is that all? Shit, we had the hillsborough disaster ( a real ****ing disaster that isnt even talked about today in Sheffield) yet we still have standing.

We learned from our past mistakes though. :P Well, as far as concerts go anyway.
