sod that.

96 people died at hillsborough (god rest their souls) but next you'll be telling me you cant do indoor shows because of that great white disaster. Its like when people demanded the name of the Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers be changed because it reminded them of 11/9. Its just ridiculous. By "banning" all standing concerts America is just saying 'we cant learn from our mistakes in the past'

I see what you mean there Goose. I like assigned seating because 1, if you buy the seat, you are guarenteed that seat. (Great if you are in the front row) At a General admission show, you have to stand in a queue and run to get a spot close and it's pretty dangerous. I would like to experience both, but... I see Assigned seating being better.

cumon, dont tell me sum of you old grannies prefer a nice seat and a cupa tea for your rock concert? i love queing up.. the thing is if your determined to get near the front you can (i know from experiance), whereas if the gig is in high demand youv no real idea what seats youl be allocated coz thousands of ppl could be trying to book the same seats online etc. The atmoshpere really is different.. SO different. those of you who have been to a seating and standing gig by the same band will know.
Thats prob one of the reason why many bands enjoy their european leg of the tour so much more, atmosphere wise. Jovi have said this numerous times.
The hours of queing, numb legs, brusied ribs (lol) ..i love it all, all part of the gig. I saw iron maiden seated only coz there were no standing left and it just felt weird..

I was in Giants last year at the 2 concerts. The seats there were dangerous. When you weight too much, they break, they only stood around disturbing. Nobody needs them.

So it's like "the american way" vs. "the wrong way"?

Urgh! I could never imagine going to a bon jovi show and having to sit down. If they were the only tickets left, then sure Id go, just to be there, but id much prefer to go to a show where i could stand. Chairs take up far far too much and theyre pointless anyway coz most people wanna stand up and dance n sing or whatever they do. I'd much rather go see a show in a stadium for example where there is a huge crowd. Giants Stadium would get tens of thousands more tickets available for the show if you didnt have to sit down. There are chairs around the edge of a stadium for those who wanna sit, so they should make the floor, General Admission/All Standing.

I have been to both types by Bon Jovi. I saw them General Admission twice and have seen them assigned seating several times and IMO the assigned seats are better. I think it's lost on some of you that just because there's a seat, doesn't mean you have to use it. People stand and jump and rock just as much at these shows as they do at GA shows, but it's a safer environment. I can't imagine what Chris said about people being so heavy they'd break a chair actually happening! A person would have to be grossly obese for that to happen! It doesn't take a obesity to crush someone if there are hundreds or thousands of people crowding toward a stage.

And what you said about the band prefering that type of show... not true. I've seen a video interview with Richie talking about how dangerous GA is.

I've been to both GA and assigned seating shows. And honestly, I enjoy assigned seating more. You've got more of your own space and don't feel so crowded. I had to be pulled out of a crowd during a GA show (during Skid Row's act at my first Jovi show!) because I was being crushed. I had bruised ribs. I don't see the benefit of GA.

Of course. Isn't the American way the only way?

I would LOVE to know where I said that the European way was wrong. Oh wait, I didn't. Stereotyping again..tsk..tsk.
