I don't think him hurting his back is why his head is down at the end of Prayer. He is not looking at the crowd, not taking any of it in, to me he just seems to want the song to end and get off the stage.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

Depends--if he did hurt his back, which seems possible from the way he was moving, the pain could make him feel nauseated/dizzy and want to keep his head down. Back pain can make you sick all over.

I just watched the Hull footage and it really resembled the footage i saw of the DC show from late last year when Jon was sick and had hurt his back so I'm guessing that one or both was the case Tues. night in Hull, which explains both the bad mood and the lack of interaction. Vocally it sounded like he went for it and sang well which means the show wasn't complete shit. Someone on the backstage board put it pretty well, us diehards are pretty spoiled we usually get pretty damn amazing performances so one that isn't really sticks out. It does suck for those that only got to see them in Hull, but from the looks of that video I'd say you got what Jon was able to give, it wasn't great, but he showed up and did what he could.

Maybe your right, but Jon usually says that he is hurt or feeling sick etc. Everyone knew that earlier in the tour when when he did put his back out. And his hayfever problems were well known too.
If you watch LOAP with the sound down it looks like he is standing there just making a speech.
Vocally and musically it was great but that spark was definetly somewhere else.

I can remember my Dad being in back pain and literally being in tears and vomiting. It can really do a job on you physically. Judging from Jon's movements it looked like that could have been the case at this show.

Thank you for the clips. I definitely expected worse. As everyone here has said, vocally he sounds fine. But, he just seems more exhausted to me than pissed. He's just very flat footed and lifeless. I've seen Jon give performances like this though over the years. Of hand, the show on 8/21/05 at Soaring Eagle comes to mind. He was exactly like this at that gig.

okay well I have to admit that to me does give an indication of extreme sickness rather than pissed-offness to me. If he was sick then he really is a trooper and a less than energetic performance is to be expected.
