I hate to admit it, but I like a few songs by ol' Robbie as well.

Eigher Bon Jovi ticket sales in Europe are not doing as well as it was hoped and they need a popular support to boost the ticket sales (the Goos aren't that famous in Europe). Or Ronan's label payed lots of money to Mercury to put him on BJ tour support slot. There is also another possibility that Bon Jovi wants to expand their fan base with some younger fans.
1) ticket sales are doing well.
2) ronan's german record company wouldn't pay anything to get him support bj as they hardly spend any cash on promo over here...
3) there's also rock bands that attract younger fans...

but how about that: the german leg of the bj tour is sponsored by zdf tv. the station has been working with both acts (bj and rk) over the last couple of years! dunno who decides at the end of the day but...

no idea, why he should be doing the uk shows though as he's got a tour of his own over there in april...

Robbie Williams DOES have some good songs. For example, Angels - one of the best ballads of the '90s, Let me entertain you - great rock song.

I am not a religious man, but I promise to build several churches in god's honour for RK to NOT be the support... If Jon has hand-picked him I'm extremely disappointed... reason being...

reason all 'rock' bands claim they have to change their sounds to more commercial stuff (ie BJ) is to suit market trends, and they all moan and complain that there's no new rock music... well how the **** can young rock bands ever get a break if the supposed rock bands such as BJ choose bands to open for them who are already largely successful... the idea used to be to give rookies a taste of the NFL that is real rock music...

Skid Row - I'm not saying these were the best band in the world, but they were very good and sebastian bach is certainly one of the best rock singers... who's to say there aren't bands like that nowadays?? let me tell you there are! It's jsut they don't get a chance to show anyone, because bands such as toploader, andreass johnson, dum dums, etc are chosen instead...

I have no problem with the Goo Goo dolls - I'm not a fan at all, but I appreciate that for the US they are 2 semi-large bands doing one show (well one large, and one semi-large)...

... but RK has had more top 10s, no 1s, radio & tv play, media attention, P&R, promotion than BJ has ever had in the UK - and he's been doing it substantially less than BJ have been.

I'm hoping that since he appears to be touring anyway RK won't open the UK dates - to all the German fans you have my heart-felt apologies...

let's face it we all buy tickets to see BJ, but these tickets cost me about £50 each this time, as opposed to £25 in 1996, but even there I'm not complaining if i get a good show. But let's face it, the economics of it all means that SOME of it is going to the support acts (let's face it RK is in a position where he doesn't need to do it just to get attention of the public), and of course it ultimately means that BJ play for less...

we'll get the usual... "i gotta go home, i gotta go..... " and perhaps "there's a curfew tonight so we can't etc etc ... " well come on stage 30-60 bloody minutes earlier... ditch the support act... and failing that, rather than have RK, just play a video on the big screens, or some real rock music on the sound system....

here's a list of bands that are available to tour with BJ, who have toured in the past with them or were of a similar style of sound who they could choose to open to UK or European markets:

Sebastian Bach - only reason doesn't play UK is because they offer him places like "restaurants" to play in, whereas in US he can play venues much larger (even if it is with a stageshow)...

Skid Row themselves are available

Europe are supposedly reforming - give them a chance to show people they are back

Scorpions - they have played in UK 1 visit in 13 years!! yet they can headline tours of US ahead of Whitesnake for god's sake...!!!

Whitesnake themselves!

Aerosmith - despite their commercial success UK market isn't good enough for them to tour here it seems... with only the 1 visit since 1997!

Styx/Dokken - etc bands like this have to resort to legends of rock style shows...

How about the NJ connection?:... give some NJ locallers a chance to tour UK & Europe: Joe D'Urso...

there's so much talent going to waste out there and bands like BJ in a way let it go to waste, when they could easily help them out without any dollars being taken out of their cut!

There you have a guitarist who is renowned as one of the great guitarists (despite not being the type to appear in top 20 in guitar magasine polls)

he has played with carlos santana in his heyday when i think he was only 16, has contributed to numerous projects outside of Journey, including with the legendary singer Paul Rogers of free/bad company - and more recently the project with michael anthony and sammy hagar...

someone like that who still has a musical drive after all those years, who lives, breathes, sleeps music should be the natural opener for BJ - and i'm not specifying him above all others in the world - but i mean that TYPE... ie people who are 100% about the music...

... but then you have to ask does someone who is 100% all about the music work as a support act for a band that is probably more like %60
