Because for some people, it makes them feel better to villainize Jon.
Then, the disappointment they personally feel has a person for whom they can assign blame to and demonize.

Wrong, its when i feel jon is putting on a mask i get offended. Again, stay true to your fans and play great music

Duh. Jon will always have a mask on. We only know the version of Jon that he gives us. None of us know Jon, the person. We know Jon, the rock star. We might think we know the man based on how much we've followed his career and how well we know his personality and thoughts and feelings but that's all based on tv interviews and magazine articles and stuff we've been fed. And I think the mask is a good idea - it's bad enough fans dissecting every aspect of a career and life he does give us access to, let alone if they were let inside more of his private world.
It's all a version of each band member that they put out to the public.
None of us know the real band members as people.
