And I think the mask is a good idea - it's bad enough fans dissecting every aspect of a career and life he does give us access to, let alone if they were let inside more of his private world.
It's all a version of each band member that they put out to the public.
None of us know the real band members as people.
are you kidding me? This mask im talking about has nothing to do with Jon's personal life, career or anything like that. Im talking about the State of the Union of this band (Bon Jovi in 2003) This is a live act that writes setlists based on Jon's vocal abilities...thats it. Who cares how bad it sounds, i want to hear Dry County. I want to hear These Days. And all i meant by stay true to yourself is stick to what got you here... they have so many great songs that we will never hear because of Jons voice, he's embarressed. We can see through all the hidden tricks they use to try to disguise it, i know he doesnt sing every word and gets the audience to sing the notes he cant hit....these things wouldnt bother me as much if they just came out and said....."Yup, we dont sound like we did 15 years ago, but you're gonna get the best out of us" not some attempt to find 25 songs that jon can sing every night without choking.

The idea that they'd change the votes are stupid. If they didn't want to play These Days they wouldn't put it on the vote. I know parts of the internet where These Days (song and album) is detested because people think it isn't 'Bon Jovi'. Just because you like something, it doesn't mean everyone else does, so don't be so one minded as to think it impossible that a song wouldn't be voted.

And Captain Crash, Jon is metaphorically crucified by a lot of people when he sings and it doesn't sound right. If he went out and sung songs that we all know he can't sing anymore, then he's going to have an unhappy audience on his hands. If people want to hear an out of tune singer they'll go to the pub. if they pay £50 to go to Hyde Park, they expect a professional gig, and it would unprofessional of Jon to sing songs even though we all know he can no longer sing them.

It's not putting on a mask, it's just being realistic I'm afraid.

Actually, you're just pissed off that Jon doesn't sound like he did in 1983. I've read interviews and heard him say he writes songs differently now because his voice is different. He doesn't try to sing like his did back then and he doesn't try to hit the notes he did then. He's never hid that fact. In fact, he's often said that the high notes were the voice of a 23 year old that didn't know better. So, your point is mute. It was just a crutch onto which one could lead to justify your unhappiness with Bon Jovi and an angle you could direct the venting. If you're unhappy, don't go to their shows, don't trade the bootlegs, don't buy the cds. Simple solution - but trashing someone who does what none of us could do - yeah, that's easier.

on his behalf and others like him - No! because i think it's fair to say most of us think Jon's voice sounded pretty shit in 1983 - and in honesty even for SWW i think it was weak ... it came into it's own 1988-1993/-96 perhaps with a little of 1987

warped logic! he also says many other things which contradict one another but we don't always interpret them as fact. In fact Jon is often not the best source for information on the band.

Actually, Jon says a lot of things. Some turn out to be true and accurate. Some are slightly off. Some flat out are wrong - either because he's mistaken or plans change. Ironic that you claim you don't take things that Jon's say as word and 'he's not the best source on the band' - because this site's regulars ARE? And funny, when it's convenient you don't take Jon's words on things. Other times, you take them so to heart that when they don't turn out exactly like you think Jon "promised" they would, some folks claim Jon's a dirty liar.
So, the warped logic is lobbed back into your side of the court, dorkwad.

Just because you voted 20 times for These Days doesn't mean that someone else wasn't voting on 50 different computers for another song. They probably didn't show the results of voting because they probably have a system to weed out votes from the same source.

No, no, Becky. There's no point applying logic to the conversation.
That would only confuse the issue at hand.
Jon is Satan. Everything the band does is a highly elaborate rouse complete with NSA involvement, black helicopters and Fox Mulder's involvement.
The fact that the diehard faction of fans are not the majority is a reality some won't ever comprehend.
For every fan with the complete collection of b-sides and bootlegs from the Keep the Faith tour and the scent of Jon's farts entombed in a airtight vile on the mantel, there are thousands upon thousands of fans who couldn't tell you the difference between Alec and Hugh.
But, if this person didn't get what they wanted (even after they spent all that time rigging the vote to try and get the outcome they wanted despite the fact that the poll was intended as a one vote only opportunity) it's obviously because there are nebulous dark forces behind the scenes out only to make the lives of fans miserable and keep the truth from there. But they know better. The truth is out there!

not neccesarily this site's posters no, although some on here know more than you'd think... just as a casual observer you can see jon saying different things night to night, interview to interview

there will be no tour in 2004... see you next year... (just a hint not a contradiction, but this has been going on forever it seems)

YOU seem to like putting words in capitals don't YOU
