Default We met the band in Amsterdam (bit long sorry)

OMG I can’t believe what happened while we were in Amsterdam to see the band on Friday.

The 4 of us arrived in Amsterdam on the Thursday night and went straight to the restaurant where we had arranged to meet 2 of our other friends.

A table was reserved for us upstairs. We must have looked a right state dragging our big red suitcase through the restaurant trying not to bump into people as we passed. The case was that heavy Lucy and Jenna had to carry it up the stairs between them. Our table was at the window so we had a nice view of outside. Gail and Helen turned up about 15mins later and announced that the band were downstairs. We were just opened mouth, couldn’t believe it. To be honest, I thought they were pulling our leg. Anyway after we had ordered our drinks Jenna and I both needed to go to the toilet so we asked the waiter where it was. He said downstairs, walk straight pass the bar and turn right and the toilets were down the stairs. So off we go to the toilet, it was only when we were walking down the stairs that we noticed Richie sitting at the table opposite Jon and Dave. Trouble was they were sitting right next to the bar so we had to walk straight passed them. It was so surreal being in the same restaurant as them. While we were in the toilet Jenna and I decided that we wouldn’t say anything to the band because this was their private time and we didn’t want to intrude. When we passed their table on the way back to ours, Jon and Dave looked straight at us, I was so tempted to say ‘see you tomorrow’ but didn’t I just smiled at Jon and he smiled back. I was on cloud nine, I know we didn’t talk to them but I didn’t care. When we got back to our table we told the others but again we all decided that we wouldn’t hassle them while they were eating because it wasn’t fair, we respected their privacy. So we ate our meal and kept an eye on the street outside incase the band left so we could see them. After the meal, Shell was still in UK mode and went outside for a cigarette while Jenna and I went to the toilet again. When we came back we just saw Richie leaving and we just looked at each other and thought ‘oh well, they’re gone – see you tomorrow’ sort of thing. Jenna then said that Shell was still outside, that was all I needed I walked outside the restaurant to find Shell, Gail and Helen having their photo taken with Jon. The security guy was taking it for them. It was funny because Dave and Richie just stood there until Shell said ‘come on Dave and Richie get in the photo’ and to her surprise they obliged. I got my camera out of my bag and asked the security guy if I could take a photo, he said no only one photo. I was a bit disappointed but respected his decision. Anyway the moment was over and the band started to walk down the road until the passed a cake shop a couple of shops away, Dave and Jon went in and bought cakes with one security guy while Richie stood outside with the other, was funny because while Richie was waiting he was texting on his mobile. I now that they are human and everything but it was so weird to see the band doing normal things. Anyway I managed to take some photos of Richie outside the shop and Jon inside buying his cakes (I was so pleased because I used my new camera with a 18x zoom so I could zoom in without being too close, the pictures aren’t 100% but I’m still pleased with them and seeing that it was the first time I used the camera I was very pleased with the out come). And then they walked out of the shop and down the street and were gone.

We were on cloud nine, just couldn’t believe our luck with everything. The only downside of the whole night was that I was pick pocketed between leaving the station and getting to the restaurant. Thankfully I was with some very good friends who split the bill with me and then Shell bought me whatever I needed for the rest of our stay. Thank you girls lol!!

Will post some pictures if you want to see them

Thanks for sharing!
It was nice of you to leave them to eat and things, it must be frustrating when people do that to them.
Enjoyed reading that, except pickpocketing.

Well you do have to respect their privacy don't you. Couldn't bare the thought of being 'out of the office' as it were, and have people pestering you. I know I wouldn't like it. I think you should treat people with respect and in the same way as you would want to be treated - its called being polite.
