I guess I am one of these people who thinks arena shows are very over-rated and there is something special about hearing the first song of the night and jumping around with about 50,000 other people.

I have only been to two stadium shows(Bon Jovi and Oasis) and the atmosphere is better than an arena.

with stadiums shows i think the problem is if you not right at the front then your gonna get either a shit view or shit sound (from my experience anyway) where as arenas have better sound and generally better views from all over.

saying that im still going to see on the band on the next tour, stadiums or arena, i couldnt really care less.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of both types of shows.

The Lost Highway tour in Europe wasn't a the most successful by Bon Jovi's standards but any major act is struggling.

Coldplay, U2, Foo Fighters, Metallica all played to under sold shows in the UK in the past year or so.
i think you're wrong about Metallica, the uk shows all sold out, tickets were as rare as hens teeth

What a good idea, BJ play smaller venues and we,ll either pay over the top prices to ticket touts on ebay or scrap over the remaining birds eye view from the rafters tickets.

Me too, I love MSG and Giants. MSG is a great venue as far as sound and seating go, but there's something about being at Giants, I just love the whole experience, can't wait to see what the new one will be like.

Tell you what, I'm a Bon Jovi fan sure...but I'm also a fan of paying my rent. I've seen them in the local stadium, and that has suited me just fine paying what I did. The only "intimate" place that they have ever played near me was a Hard Rock Cafe with tickets STARTING at $400. I don't pay that much a month for my share of my apartment!

If Bon Jovi wants to keep presenting themselves as the all-american "for the working class" masses, playing big shows like this with smaller price tags is the best option. Do you think that Tommy and Gina could afford to go to a smaller concert? If they play ONLY small shows, then those working class people that they sing about will never get to see them. How pretentious is that?

Besides, if you've been to hundreds and hundreds of concerts, you'll hopefully understand that half of the experience is being with the crowds. Enjoying the show with people just as frenzied as you are, just as excited...and the band is what fuels that energy. THAT'S the concert experience. If it just happens that the venue produces a good sound, that should be secondary.

It probably won't be as good, unfortunately. A lot of stadiums in England that are newly built don't feel as special.

Giants Stadium is one of the last of the "cookie-cutter" style, bowl stadiums here in the states. The new American Football Stadiums tend to have a lot of openings and boxier shapes; better for affecting wind conditions during games. But I suspect the open architecture also tends to hinder the sound quality for concerts a lot. May be a similar phenomena with the UK Stadiums.

Giants Stadium for atmosphere is amazing. Giants for sound/show/building quality is a dump. Hopefully the new Space ship...er Stadium is a vast improvement in those ares. As fro American Stadiums, sometimes they get it very right, IE The New Yankee Stadium.
