Default What happened to the old songs?

Firstly some positive stuff...

I was lucky enought to go to the 26th (last night at the o2) so much energy that night and although a set list mainly filled with hits it did have some very special moments.

I never thought I would ever hear Letting You Go again and These Days probably sounded the best I have ever heard + I got to hear Diamond Ring too. On top of that Bed Of Roses and I'll Be There For You sounded amazing.

My question though - What happened too:

Roulette
Shot Through The Heart
Get Ready
Only Lonely
Tokyo Road

We got these songs a handful of times then they got put back in the locker. Surely they could and should have kept a couple of these in the sets?????

I did think that maybe they had recorded the newer live versions to include on the new greatest hits package.

It is well known that Jon (and most of the band, for that matter) don't like playing the 7800 songs. They obviously decided to give them another try, but didn't like it. As for the first 3 songs, I'm not sure what happened to them.

To be fair though I don't like every aspect of my job but I still do it. At the end of the day those songs are what got some people into this band. Stuff like 'Only Lonely, Tokyo Road & Shot Through The Heart' are better than the offerings off LH for example.

That's for sure. They must think that casuals will know more LH stuff as that is more recent.

And true. When they tried them out in Seattle much of the crowd had no idea what they were, and added to the four or five new songs that were being played there was just too much that the casual audience wasn't familiar with. In the US most casuals have three Bon Jovi records, Slippery, NJ, and Crossroads. Newer casuals havethose three and LH.

They played the really rare stuff on the first two nights in Hawaii. The crowd didn't react so Jon killed them off.

He was just throwing a bone to the die-hards. If the die-hards say "the band never play old shit anymore" at least Jon can say they did (Even though only once or twice, just to be buried again forever).
